Overall Satisfaction with Acquia DAM (Widen)

It is used by multiple departments including the library, media, marketing and communications to organize both current and historic digital assets.
  • Portals are a useful tool to share and make assets available both to internal and external clients with the ability for they to either download or view the items.
  • The ability to create categories and collections enables the user to sort assets into more manageable groups.
  • Metadata can be customized and also embedded into asset.
  • The inability to change the default search returns so that they stay each time one logs in. For example, in my experience, it always seems to sort to date asset is added even though it's been changed to filename countless times.
  • In my experience, search results are limited to 10,000. With hundreds of thousands of assets, this limit makes it difficult for metadata cleanup as it limits results.
  • For my working group the move to Acquia DAM (Widen) has caused more work and made our workflow much more complicated in my opinion.
It took over 5 business days for our contact to email back and then just to tell me to use the chat support. Then that took over 1 hour to try to resolve. Thankfully I am really good at work arounds because quick fixes to problems do not happen.
I prefer portfolio. It enabled the user to use a folder system.

No

Did Acquia DAM (Widen) live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Would you buy Acquia DAM (Widen) again?

No

The product is not easy to use when changes need to be made to the asset or different versions created. The downloaad to pdf puts a link as the filename which means it is impossible to share with a non user because they click on the link and are brought to a sign in page.
