Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to host the Drupal Content management system for much of our site. This includes thousands of pages.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Low Down Time
Excellent Tech Support People
Good administrative interface

Cons

They replaced Acquia Dev Desktop with Acquia Cloud IDE which doesn't let you set up as many instances of Drupal.

Return on Investment

Allows busy, short staffed court employees to add and update content easily.
Web developers spend less time fixing code broken by editors.

Scalability

We get the memory and bandwidth resources we need and more. We've never had a problem scaling up.

Alternatives Considered

We went with the platform that the state already had a contract with to save time with deployment, and it has worked out. It had been used and vetted by the Executive Branch.

Other Software Used

Adobe Creative Cloud Express, Microsoft Visual Studio Code

It is especially good for large sites with lots of traffic. The ability to easily give different workers different rights is very helpful. I wouldn't use it for a small site with little customization or traffic. The overhead with using Composer would be a bit much for those instances, though it is very helpful for complex sites.
