Overall Satisfaction with Action1

I use Action1 for all of my Windows devices to manage updates. When I first started with my organization, they didn't have a WSUS in place or really even managed Windows updates. We are a nonprofit organization so when I was looking for a product that could manage my updates and have a scheduled time to install them across my network and most importantly featured a low price tag or even free, Action1 instantly stood out to me. I have less than 200 endpoints so being able to use Action1 for free was a big help.

Pros

  • Windows 10 to 11 Upgrade
  • Alerts end users of pending restarts for updates
  • .MSI files for endpoint installation via GP is flawless

Cons

  • Mac integration for update installation
  • Staying logged into Action1 longer as it constantly logs me out
  • Instant remote access to endpoints rather than waiting for acceptance on end user side (Windows, Mac, etc.)
  • Saved the organization money being that it was free
  • Saved time on having to walk around and touch each device to upgrade to Windows 11
  • Made assisting end users much more easier via remote access
I find Action1 straightforward to use. Being that I am a one man IT department, I was able to get this software up and running in no time to start managing my endpoints. The .msi setup for GP deployment was a piece of cake and getting the Action1 agent deployed to all devices that way was very easy. I only had to touch a few devices (less than 10) to get it installed but it wasn't because Action1 wasn't working, it was mostly because they weren't on the network, domain, etc. The only thing I struggled with at first was running some reports in Action1 to see certain items on the endpoints such as storage space, size of HDD, etc.
Freshdesk and Freshservice are great products with Freshservice being the better of the two. However, in comparison to Action1 with regards to our budget, it was an easy choice to select Action1. I selected Action1 not only because of the "free" price tag, but also because I didn't need a full fledged ITSM product. Action1 is cheaper, easier to setup and use, and is cloud based as well so you don't need to install it on a server to utilize.

Yes

Did implementation of Action1 go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Action1 again?

Yes

If your organization is like mine (nonprofit and tight budget) this product is for you. The first 200 endpoints are free and being we are a small organization, this product is perfect for us. I was able to use Action1 to upgrade all my endpoints from Windows 10 to 11 pretty much effortlessly. If you are not a nonprofit and have more endpoints over 200, this is still a great product to use as I don't find it very expensive to incorporate into your infrastructure.
