Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat

Our use of Adobe acrobat is to provide the ability to read pdf documents, edit and organize them, fill forms, create forms and documents. In our organization it is the default application for opening pdf documents.
  • Creating forms that can be filled online and beautifully printed
  • It is the "gold standard" for handling pdf files
  • It is the best at creating cross platform compatible documents from a myriad of sources in high fidelity to the original
  • Document control, signing and security are intuitive and reliable.
  • Adobe seems to be moving to a subscription only model. The perpetual license should never go away.
  • On rare occasions Acrobat on our systems will seem to hang. We use task manager to kill it and retry which usually works.
  • With pdf's generate from other programs the cut-and-paste from the pdf can have strange results. For example, when selecting text in some pdf documents the highlighted text on the screen may not accurately reflect what is being copied by ctrl-c.
  • Cross platform compatibility with a high degree of fidelity of document presentation and compatibility
  • Ease of simple pdf creation
  • Ease of pdf viewing and printing
  • Ease of form creation
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
Adobe Acrobat is what all the others pdf solutions hope to emulate. With its long history and reliable integrations into the systems of many platforms it is just the easiest to use solution for reliable pdf handling.

Ease of use is also in part due to over a decade and a half of consistent use. As it has grown and become more capable we have grown in our familiarity with the program.
  • We all use Acrobat every day. It is familiar and that makes it quick and easy to use which helps our flow and bottom line by saving time.
  • With Acrobat we don't have to deal with malformed pdf documents: it's the gold standard. We don't have to worry about our documents being non-standard.
  • Peace of mind. Frankly I've thought more about Acrobat writing this review than I have in the last 10 years! When tools are so familiar they are just part of the work background it makes for a smooth workflow.
We use Adobe document security when needed to restrict editing, printing or access (password protection). The ability to digitally sign documents is a real plus.

We have not had issues with Adobe's security. No data breaches or legal issues. Sometimes what you don't have to deal with is just as or more important than what you do.
Acrobat is our choice over Kofax Power PDF. It's just a better solution in our opinion. We use their Paperport application but pairing it up with Acrobat keeps out environment consistent and I think gives us better results.

Not saying the Kofax PDF is a bad product, but I choose to stick with the product that is the gold standard for pdf.

Acrobat can be a document workflow and handling champion. Helping with form filling, getting documents signed, etc. It facilitates getting documents from creation formats (like MS Word or Excel) and into a format where changes can be controlled, fields filled in and documents signed. Or simply as a tool to send documents cross-platform that can be viewed and printed with excellent fidelity.

Where it is less appropriate is when it is misused as if it were a native format for photos. It is really a document management tool, not a photo tool though too often I see it used that way.
