Adobe Acrobat Everything it has to be with out being a necessity.
Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat
I use Adobe Acrobat to combine and reconfigure PDF files. Viewing PDFs comes since I already have the software. I regularly use Adobe Acrobat's "guided actions" to combine various PDFS from InDesign. Our workflow requires that multiple documents be created, but our end-user needs it as a single document. Adobe Acrobat helps automate the process.
Pros
- Opens PDFs
- Edits PDFs
- Facilitates digital signatures.
Cons
- User Interface customization.
- I use the guided actions tool often. The UI of that tool is worse than it was in previous versions of Adobe Acrobat. Organizing the custom created actions requries a context menu instead of a modern drag and drop.
- the new version is so hung up on getting you to spend more money it fails to do its actual job.
- The only thing Adobe Acrobat does that impacts my business objectives is the guided actions. All the other features are often performed faster with another piece of software.
- Increased Operational Efficiences
- Safe signed documents.
- Cloud Solutions
Interestingly, my choice was "Cloud Solutions." This option is more accurately defined as "Forced Cloud-based Software as a Service." I didn't specifically purchase Adobe Acrobat. It comes bundled with the overpriced Creative Cloud subscription. Were it a required purchase separate from the subscription, I would avoid it entirely. In my opinion, Adobe Acrobat is a holdover from a much earlier time.
Adobe's security has had no influence on our company's compliance standards. I would guess that 95% of our PDFs are emailed. In my opinion, there is no security in Adobe Acrobat; the security would more likely be in the services offered independently of Adobe Acrobat as a software. This question can't really be answered in a negative light.
