My review of Adobe Marketo Engage
Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Marketo Engage
We are a marketing agency whose services were usually outsourced by our clients. These clients would have a Adobe Marketo Engage instance and they would provide us access. From here we would create email campaigns as well as the various assets (landing pages and emails) that would go along side the campaign. Many times the email that was created would include a CTA to a landing page with a form for led gen or for a campaign. Once the Leads submitted the form, they would sync into Salesforce. This was usually the handoff from our services to the in house sales team.
Pros
- Email program
- Landing Page Builder
- Email Builder
- Dynamic Content
- Integration with other applications
Cons
- Reporting
- The learning curve for Adobe Marketo Engage is steep, so there is time needed for training members of the clients team wants to use or create something.
- The form builder is easy to use, so adding Lead fields to acquire data can make things very efficient.
- If following Adobe Marketo Engage's best practices, you can keep your instance and campaigns organized, which can allow for the tracking down of old campaigns.
- Lead Management
For our clients we would typically have 3 use cases. One use case would be a lead generation form on one of their various websites. We would create a default program with various automations that would send an automated email and then route that lead to Salesforce upon the submission of a form.
We would also have a run of the mill campaign for a new or promoted product. This would usually be coupled with a landing page that would promote the product and a form that could be filled out to acquire more information and get in touch with sales.
The final use case would be to inform. This would include a monthly newsletter sent out the email list.
Adobe Marketo Engage did really well helping our clients achieve all 3 goals.

Pardot/Account Engagement/Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a close second to Adobe Marketo Engage. I have some experience in Hubspot, but I have not spent enough time in Hubspot to give it a fair shake.
I think Adobe Marketo Engage is great. I might be slightly biased because it is the platform I have spent the most time in, but I think Adobe Marketo Engage makes creating landing pages, emails, and campaigns fun - it is almost like it is gamified. I really enjoyed creating assets, seeing what was wrong when looking at it through a preview and then finding the solution.
