Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense
I use AlphaSense primarily to find statistics or key items in equity research. Most common use cases include peak sales of a specific drug, key competitors, and recent data readouts. It is super helpful when putting together market or competitive landscape overviews, which I have to do frequently (1-2x per week).
Pros
- Find peak sales of specific drug
- Find key competitors
- Find overall market size of certain diseases
Cons
- It could be better at filtering out unnecessary reports
- It's sometimes slow at loading documents
- Efficiency/productivity gained
- Crucial data found
- Broader content sources
I don't think we view AlphaSense as a way to become more competitive. It's more of an internal tool to help the team's efficiency. It's one of many resources we have so it doesn't have enough of an impact to shape our business outcomes.
- S&P Capital IQ and FactSet
AlphaSense is better at pulling relevant research based on key searches. Trying to search for specific items on CapIQ or FactSet is difficult because it's basically like CTRL-F on thousands of reports, which would be a very arduous process. I still use the other products, just for different purposes (ie. digging through research versus pulling reports)
