Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use AlphaSense to track specific public and private companies and to analyze recent news, earnings reports, analyst reports, and other data provided on the platform. I also use AlphaSense to do industry research into topics such as AI and software buying trends. I use the advanced search tools to facilitate that research.

Usability

AlphaSense is a strong platform, and I can get to an answer faster than with a general search engine typically. They also provide a much wider set of data, such as expert call transcripts and sell-side analyst reports that are not available on general search platforms. The advanced search functionality can also speed up research.

AlphaSense Market Intelligence

AlphaSense does help in surfacing news faster, however, that does not typically impact our business plans significantly. We find more value in the exclusive research / sell-side reports and public company summaries and data, which are less time-sensitive. We have a longer-term view in terms of our strategies, so real-time information (while it can be interesting and a useful data point) is not going to impact thinking too much.

Alternatives Considered

PitchBook, CB Insights and Refinitiv Eikon

Some of the other products listed above provide much richer private market research than AlphaSense. AlphaSense does not provide their capabilities at the moment, and so we need multiple solutions for our goals. Eikon is more similar to AlphaSense. Their search capabilities are somewhat less sophisticated, and the overall ease of use is not as good on that platform.

AlphaSense is well suited for general industry research and public company-specific research. For example, if I am trying to get a sense of buying trends in the software industry, I can very easily look up prominent public software firms and read the AlphaSense generative summaries to understand what is happening at a high level. They have some data on private companies as well, but it is more limited than on other platforms. To get detailed private company information, such as funding round details, I need to use other platforms.
