Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use AlphaSense to pull data from various broker research reports and company filings. We find that compared to more traditional softwares such as Capital IQ AlphaSense makes the search process much easier and quicker, which allows for a lot of saved time. When looking for data from a specific time frame it is especailly useful.

Usability

Its usability as a search engine is by far its most useful feature. Other search engines are frustrating, especially because we have to pay, download, and open various broker reports just to get one piece of data which can end up costing a lot of time and money. With AlphaSense, the step of downloading and sorting through irrelevant broker reports is not an issue.

AlphaSense Market Intelligence

I haven't personally used the updates functionality that the platform has yet, but in my 1-on-1 training session, I did learn of the different ways that this can be useful. It is my understanding that it is not difficult to setup, its just something I haven't gotten around to yet. I will be using this tool in the future.

Alternatives Considered

S&P Capital IQ

I think for searching and finding specific data AlphaSense is a far superior platform to Capital IQ or even Bloomberg. That being said, I haven't heard of or used an excel plug-in provided by AlphaSense, so it is difficult to compare from that perspective because CIQ's primary use case for me is in my excel backups.

I think AlphaSense is best for its search functionality. The ability to find specific data from specific date ranges cannot be matched by any other platform. In my job, I spend a lot of time trying to verify and confirm data, and AlphaSense has saved me countless hours. I'm not sure if there is an excel plug in, but if there is a reliable one than AlphaSense would be preferred to other platforms such as Capital IQ.
