Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense

I primarily use AlphaSense to access equity research reports. The keyword smart search functionality is best-in-class compared to other databases with similar offerings and makes it very easy to find pertinent information quickly across many sources.

Pros

  • Smart Search.
  • Quantity of content.
  • Linking data.

Cons

  • Adding more research providers.
  • A function that could aggregate all of the financials across equity research reports
  • Able to do more quickly and accurately source information.
AlphaSense UX is very intuitive. It is easy to navigate, filter, and traverse sources for information. Compared to other databases (FactSet, Refinitiv), AlphaSense is miles ahead. Jumping from one document to the next is mostly seamless, especially when compared to the aforementioned competitors.
AlphaSense has the best search / smart search functions. Refinitiv has more equity research reports, but AlphaSense has more than FactSet or BBG. All 4 databases do a comparable job of providing financials. FactSet has an impressive feature that allows you to jump within financial statements from one section or financial statement to the next that makes it easy to navigate filings. AlphaSense could benefit from a similar offering. AlphaSense is the most seamless UX. BBG looks like it was made in the 80s, Refinitiv is slow and requires constant loading, and FactSet is glitchy and inaccurate.

Do you think AlphaSense delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with AlphaSense's feature set?

Yes

Did AlphaSense live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of AlphaSense go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy AlphaSense again?

Yes

The best use case I have found for AlphaSense is finding the total addressable market and upcoming catalysts for biotechnology companies. Most search functions (Ctrl + F) require the exact word search, but with AlphaSense it is easy to search for one thing and get the synonyms or acronyms I am looking for. It saves me a ton of time. Some other databases (Refinitiv) have more providers, so I have to check both. If AlphaSense had the same providers, I would never use Refinitiv. AlphaSense is also not my first choice for financial statements and company filings.
