Overall Satisfaction with AlphaSense

We used AlphaSense to research companies for corporate development and M&A purposes. It is very helpful to use the expert calls and transcript summaries to quickly get a deep understanding of a company. You can also use dashboard and updates to keep track of companies you want to follow.

Pros

  • Expert calls
  • Summarizing earnings calls
  • Giving an overiew of the company, its ownership, employee count, and revenue.

Cons

  • Wish it had more information on private companies. Many lack estimates on revenue and employee count.
  • Sometimes the owernership is inaccurate on private or acquired companies.
  • I wish the financials were much easier to use and in-depth more similar to PitchBook.
  • It has sped up research on companies.
  • Helps provide strong insights into earnings calls that I wouldn't have time to gain on my own.
It's very cool how it searches through a wide variety of sources from research papers to SEC filings all at once. You can now use AI to help summarize these sources, but I still find that the AI is often inaccurate. I hope the AI capabilities improve. A huge piece that would make AlphaSense more usable is having a strong financial metric section that can easily be exported into a consistent excel format regardless of what company and currency it is pulling from.
It has given me access to research reports that I would never had access to before, or would have to make a really strong case on why we need to purchase the reports.
I inherited AlphaSense access by joining my current role. AlphaSense's financial and deal information can not match pitchbooks. It does have better summarization for financial than PitchBook though.

Do you think AlphaSense delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with AlphaSense's feature set?

No

Did AlphaSense live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of AlphaSense go as expected?

No

Would you buy AlphaSense again?

No

It can be really useful for researching companies. It is a very expensive program that does come with a lot of value if you are able to use it extensively. For my personal role and industry there is not as much information on the companies and topics we are researching because they are traditionally less covered and researched compared to other industries and niches.
