Overall Satisfaction with Alteryx

Automating previously manual business processes and reporting. We also use it for ad hoc reporting needs as they arise within the business. Some workflows have cut hours of manual work down to just a few minutes. Very useful in a lean six sigma/ continuous improvement work environment. Very pleased.

Use both and they integrate pretty well. This is mainly because they do different things well. Alteryx allows the user to organize and cleanse the data, while Tableau is much more intuitive in the visualization category. Each has tried to replicate the others strengths, but I feel like the both fall short. Better to use each to for what it does well.

I found it very easy to use very quickly. Part of it had to do with the training I received from Alteryx and the other part was how intuitive the tool is out of the box. Highly recommended for analysts especially ones with little code experience. Helpful to build basic code skills.
Good support, but could have used more when installing the server. Had a minor issue for a long time that took a lot of work to resolve. Other than that, there has been a lot of free training especially when brining on new designer license holders. Support is good overall.
Automates manual excel work very well. Transforms manual requests into automated end user-initiated reporting. It brings a lot of the work that IT usually needs to deal with down to the analyst level, saving those resources for high code jobs. Light weight enough for no-code users but has the python and R capabilities.

Using Alteryx

25 - Process Improvement/Automation. It has eliminated thousands of hours of manual work inside Excel. We also use the connectors to combine separate data sources into one workflow.
2 - Alteryx requires some super users to also double as support. The key is to have an intermediate understanding of Alteryx tools. It is also helpful to have someone with more technical experience, such as a DBA, to assist with any server issues or upgrades.

Evaluating Alteryx and Competitors

It can be expensive, and there are other products out there that can do similar functions. I might have gone through a more extensive evaluation process to measure those other products against Alteryx. In the end though, Alteryx is so intuitive and flexible that I still think it was the right for what my organization needs.
