Overall Satisfaction with Articulate 360

I use Articulate 360 to create virtual tours of central heat pump water heater systems. Our goal is to amplify the electrification workforce by training more contractors who can design and install central heat pump water heater systems. I use a mix of still photos, 360 photos, videos, animations and simulations to create learning activities and assessments in these virtual tours.

Pros

  • Common widgets I can use to create interactive learning activities quickly
  • Javascript capabilities to do anything else I want that's not natively supported
  • xAPI support to track learner data I want

Cons

  • Limited interactivity within 360 images. I would like to use 360 images a lot more in my particular use case (virtual tour of a boiler room with lots of components and complicated piping), like labeling the piping with shapes, importing animated svg files as overlays, having layers, but those are available only on a still image and not 360 images.
  • Issues are addressed wayyyyy too slowly in the community forum and community members are often more helpful than staff members. I can experience issues that others posted 8 years ago and still see no fix.
  • Just more flexibility overall. More built-in variables. More control over the existing widgets. Actual support for Javascript rather than relying solely on the creativity of community members without having to reverse engineer how Articulate 360 works.
  • I actually don't know. Measuring ROI is hard and I'm still getting started!
Oh I just realized I was talking about Storyline the entire time. I have also used Articulate Replay to edit simple videos and embed them in Storyline.
I have not used it yet and don't really have the intention to do so yet.
It's easy to get started, but I hit bottlenecks really quickly and have to rely on workarounds constantly.
More features than the competitors, but not powerful or flexible enough for what it could be.

It's a decent platform for interactive learning experiences compared to others on the market, but still far from perfect. I would use it for most of my projects, but I wish I had better alternatives or a better version of it.
