Overall Satisfaction with Articulate Storyline
Storyline is the authoring tool the training team uses to create eLearning for our organization. Our employees are spread out across the country so like many others, eLearning is a method of training that helps keep costs down. Safety is an important part of our work and our culture. The courses I design in Storyline allow the user to make choices just like they would in the field so training has engagement, not just a reader for a screen full of words. Being able to engage the learner, makes them remember more and in the end may keep them safer on the job.
- As a novice with software authoring tools and no coding ability, Storyline's basic platform was easy to learn. It has a PowerPoint type look and feel so it's less intimidating than many other tools.
- The tutorials provided on the Articulate website quickly helped me move from basic slides to interactive visuals and question elements. They are available any time I am which was perfect!
- While not part of the software itself, the Articulate community is beyond what I have ever seen for software I use. Other users answer questions, share their work, create templates, and give out information that helps me be successful with my eLearning courses.
- While it is easy to use, there is still ramp up time for the non-technical person like myself. Seeing others' cool work and realizing how many elements are in it can be daunting. It just takes time and some study to get some of the more complicated interactions down.
- The product is a good value for the price. I would have like a couple more characters to have been included.
- It has made working with subject matter experts easier when trying to design impactful learning. They get the basics of what can be done in a short amount of time and have stopped asking for recorded PowerPoint.
- Due to quick publishing of a course with multiple ways for output, we can get courses into our LMS without hassle.
Adobe Captivate is a powerful authoring tool that creates great eLearning. I chose Articulate Storyline because it gave me the same great output and was not hard to learn. I don't need a special "language" to use it. At a former company where we used Adobe Captivate, it took me much longer to get things created. I get an interactive course that looks great and meets our objectives that is not so complicated to learn how to create with Storyline.
Articulate Storyline Implementation
- Implemented in-house
Change management was minimal
- They were related to the LMS and how the published course needed to be packaged to get into the system. That was it.
