Overall Satisfaction with Atom
Atom is being used by some software engineers and designers across the tech organization. It's a code editor, so it solves the business problem of needing to write code.
Pros
- Really nice UI
- Allows plugins
- Open source
Cons
- Doesn't handle huge commits/merges very well
- Rectangle select (though there is a plugin)
- Slightly different shortcuts to Sublime
- It gives me a place to write code, which is positive
- It's free
Atom is more up to date with features than Sublime is. VS Code is also a really great code editor, but I find Atom more enjoyable overall. The UI and theming is a little nicer, and some of the shortcuts are more similar to Sublime which I was previously used to using.
