Overall Satisfaction with Automox

Automox is used to patch 3rd party software on laptops. This helps to make sure the users are update and lowers vulnerabilities. This is a lot more time saving then having an engineer constantly looking up version and deploying updates via intunes. We also use it for Windows patch and 3rd party patching on Servers. This helps us because Intune doesn't patch servers.

Pros

  • Patching 3rd party software
  • Patching windows software
  • Running scripts (worklets) on other machines as they don't need to be in the office for them to run

Cons

  • Reporting is lack luster and not customizable
  • The platform only integrates with Rapid7 and doesn't support any other security integrations at this time
  • There aren't great ways to check and search for patches applied to the computers
  • Saved employee hours deploying 3rd party patching
  • Can cover employee who our remote
  • Can push scripts or patches as a one off
There was much less time spent working on managing patches being pushed to end users. We don't have to deal as much with security asking us to patch these applications either.
Automox console and dashboard are good but there sometimes it can be unclear which patches are older the 90day as it is only in the report that the server has a patch older then 90day. When you go to look at the computer it doesn't point out which patch is the one alerting.

Do you think Automox delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Automox's feature set?

Yes

Did Automox live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Automox go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Automox again?

Yes

Automox is well suited for Patching 3rd party applications. It also does very well with Windows patches. They also do well at vulnerability remediation, if there is already a worklet to fix it.
Automox can struggle with some worklets building. They have a strict detection format for their worklets. Also some of the prebuilt worklets don't seem to work as they aren't kept up to date.
