Overall Satisfaction with Automox
We have deployed Automox to a mixed Windows and MacOS environment. Having a mixed environment presents the issue of trying to patch two different operating systems across a very distributed enterprise. Automox helps reduce having a dedicated application for each operating system by being a single pane of glass. We have worklets/policies in place to patch each OS as vendor updates come in or CVE's.
Pros
- Patching
- Application deployment
- End User device information/reporting
Cons
- When changing the device name on the web interface, it would be great if that change also reflects on the end user device
- Possibly consolidating the different report types, it gets a little confusing
- Being able to move devices between OU's within the web console
- Significant money saving in terms of how many applications we have to manage.
- Significant time savings not having to hop between multiple applications.
It is largely a set and forget once you have your policies configured. Yes, you do need to fine tune the policies from time to time but Automox takes care of vendor application patching as well as the device patching. We don't have to go into our MDM and create policies to take care of patching.
