Automox, the Swiss Knife for Endpoint Patching
Overall Satisfaction with Automox
We use Automox for patching host machines throughout the organization, Automox addresses the following business problems we had, it would address the issue of not keeping host machines operating systems up-to-date, software patching also is a breeze with Automox too. We are able to group different machines according to critical to non critical and then further apply different policies to them. The Automox is cloud based and relieving the on-prem duties, it is a very fast patching solution overall.
Pros
- Automated OS and software patching
- Different policy creation
- Dynamic OU group management
- Powershell script commands
Cons
- Increasing the amount of 3rd party software available to patch
- A feature to duplicate host machines that belong in a group to other different groups
- A feature to allow admins to automatically delete host machines no longer in use
- Reduced vulnerability affecting endpoints to 80% - 90%
- Increased scalability from Automox in terms of new host machines being patched
- No on-premise ifrastructure since Automox is cloud-based.
The organization experienced more endpoint system stability, less vulnerability to endpoints. The process of patching became much simpler and quicker.
Patching is more dynamic now and most of the time once we have grouped endpoints and added policies to them we can then let Automox get to work, the process it goes through is automated.

Well here we have two tools that have the same functions with varying features and different hosting platform.
Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection is hosted on-premises while Automox is cloud-based, Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection's performance is dependent on the organization's workload that is being put on its hardware while with Automox it is cloud-based and it is faster.
Automox is also feature rich too and it's customer support is solely focused on improving the product overall.
