Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Automated patching across MacOS and Windows, as well as worklets for automation of scripts etc., and vulnerability remediation. There's plenty of patching products out there, but few that cover multiple platforms. To avoid vendor sprawl, we looked at Automox as a single vendor for all the platforms that we support across the business.

Vulnerability Remediations - We use Tenable, and I have yet to have a vulnerability import that has found vulnerabilities that Automox can sort automatically. Everything is still manual.
macOS - The secure token issue for OS patching. Automox are aware and seems to be working on it, but the current advice relies on the end user having admin, which is a security no no.

Patching

The introduction of macOS into our infrastructure was probably the biggest point. Previously the Windows only solutions were fine, but didn't provision for macOS.

Usability

It's generally very clear and easy to understand whats happening. I think there's some improvements that could be made to add clarity, like per device activity logs, etc., rather than activity logs as a whole, but it generally is very clear and easy to use.

Likelihood to Recommend

For companies covering multiple platforms, that want to avoid multiple portals to learn, access, etc. to patch and manage these platforms, Automox is great. It's probably on par with other solutions we looked into in terms of functionality, etc. but the multiplatform is a huge advantage the other solutions don't have.
