Overall Satisfaction with Automox
Automated patching across MacOS and Windows, as well as worklets for automation of scripts etc., and vulnerability remediation. There's plenty of patching products out there, but few that cover multiple platforms. To avoid vendor sprawl, we looked at Automox as a single vendor for all the platforms that we support across the business.
Pros
- Automated Patching
- Ease of use
- Ease of setup
Cons
- Vulnerability Remediations - We use Tenable, and I have yet to have a vulnerability import that has found vulnerabilities that Automox can sort automatically. Everything is still manual.
- macOS - The secure token issue for OS patching. Automox are aware and seems to be working on it, but the current advice relies on the end user having admin, which is a security no no.
- General Automation of patching to increase security
- Less manual tasks for IT Department
The introduction of macOS into our infrastructure was probably the biggest point. Previously the Windows only solutions were fine, but didn't provision for macOS.
