Overall Satisfaction with Avanan

Avanan
is a great tool for additional phishing protection! We added it in addition
to our already in place O365 email protection and it's been a great addition to
our [secure] platform. We were getting phishing emails commonly slip through our Spam filter with our O365 email protection, and Avanan has filled the gap to better protect our organization against phishing attacks.

Pros

  • Simple and easy to use Interface
  • Ease of integration and configuration
  • Reporting and dashboards are helpful and pertinent
  • Mail Explorer allows for easy finding of emails in question

Cons

  • Clicktime protection iterfered with O365 Safe-link protection
  • SAML integration for new support user had a concern
  • Users were questioning the new Avanan email messages reporting a quarantined message
  • Anti-phishing engine that uses Machine Learning
  • Ease of use and portal that is intuitive
  • Mail Explorer - you're easily able to find emails that your looking for
  • Ability to create block or allowed lists for similar emails
  • Restore workflow is awesome!
  • In one month Avanan captured and quarantined over 1000 phishing emails that would have been delivered to user mailboxes
  • With Avanan we have been more able to detect and prevent Shadow IT from SaaS platforms that users may have tried to use
  • Reduced the risk of Business email compromise due to a phishing attack
Better dashboard, easier to use, more simple deployment and maintenance. Ease of understanding the product, intuitive, yet powerful, and effective without too many false positives. The restore workflow was easier and more straightforward compared to the others as well.

Avanan works great as a cloud Anti-phishing software. They use Machine learning to catch attacks that other providers miss. They can work as a standalone Anti-phishing tool or in conjunction with O365 native email security products, making it a very versatile product. It works great as an additional product for protecting your email platform, and works well with existing products and platforms, and provides added protection and another anti-phishing engine that will catch emails that may go through your existing solution.

Using Avanan

2000 - All business functions, anybody who has email, so all employees
6 - Helpdesk and Admins
  • Additional Anti-Phishing protection
  • Shadow IT protection
  • Restore requests for quarantined (phishing) emails
  • Shadow IT engine was helpful to find users that are using or signing up for products that we were unaware of
  • Finding emails easier for building block or allow rules
Cost, need to make sure the cost is competitive for how many users are using email protection as we move users to MS Teams and don't rely so much on full access to email accounts (both sending and receiving internal and external).
