Overall Satisfaction with Blackboard Learn

Blackboard Learn is a learning management system which allows instructors the ability to host course content, discussion boards, quizzes, and assignments in an easy-to-use interactive online system. Students access Blackboard Learn to review course materials that have been organized into sections and folders in a logical organizational structure. Each section inside a Blackboard Learn course can contain readings, assignments, discussions, and anything needed by students for that particular course module.
  • Easy to use course navigation.
  • Icons make it easy to distinguish content types.
  • System announcements remain for months or years.
  • Confusion can exist between the top-level navigation and course navigation.
  • Keeps students engaged
  • Allows instant feedback
  • Canvas
Blackboard Learn is very similar to Canvas by Instructure since they are both essential Learning Management Systems. Canvas is a bit more rigid in the structure and does not permit faculty to customize the course navigation menu fully. Blackboard Learn allows faculty to add/remove content areas on the course menu to arrange their content; however, they'd like while Canvas forces faculty to use the Modules feature for content organization.
The basic support is ticket-based and requires a local designated contact or system administrator to open tickets. End-user support is only available through the institution without additional costs. However, this is a relatively standard way of operating for most learning management systems. Even Instructure offers paid support for Canvas for end-users, but basic support must go through a local designated contact person.

Yes - The Blackboard Learn mobile app is straightforward and intuitive. There is a limited number of features available on the mobile platform. Still, it is a quick and easy way for students to check course content, read course announcements, and participate in the online discussion boards that may be available to them.
Course navigation is one of Blackboard Learn's strongest features. Because the navigation is so flexible and intuitive, it is easy for students to find content and navigate around inside of courses. Faculty can customize this navigation to fit the needs of their courses, but the basic layout and structure remain consistent across the entire platform.
