BlueJeans - Ditch Your Rack-Mounted Codec
Overall Satisfaction with BlueJeans
BlueJeans is used firm-wide to create a flexible video conferencing platform accessible to all users, both locally and remotely. It also integrates with our Level III audio bridge service.
Pros
- BlueJeans is extremely easy to use and is complemented by its feature set including an Outlook add-in and ability to record meetings.
- The recent addition of Dolby Digital audio has noticeably increased the audio quality of meetings.
- Customer service is phenomenal. Whether troubleshooting or testing a new BlueJeans feature, their support is extremely responsive and knowledgeable.
Cons
- Resolution is currently capped at 720p. We would like to see up to 1080p supported.
- Otherwise, it's hard to find cons...
- It provides less technical users a simple, consistent platform for connecting.
- Incredible savings on travel time.
- Zoom and GoToMeeting
Zoom and GoTo are solid platforms and have better video resolution, but the BlueJeans package is exponentially more flexible and user-friendly.
Since our original review, we have opted to move to Zoom. The platform has out-developed and out-performed BlueJeans in all categories. While BlueJeans still has a place in the VC world for those seeking ease of use and simplicity, Zoom's feature set and path forward ultimately lead us to switch. We did have a wonderful experience with BlueJeans while the product was right for us.

Evaluating BlueJeans and Competitors
- Product Features
- Product Usability
- Existing Relationship with the Vendor
"Ease of use" is the top phrase that comes to mind with BlueJeans - from an account management level to the platform's simplicity when used with desktops and 3rd party conference room systems. Just like your favorite, worn-in pair, BlueJeans quickly becomes a comfortable, familiar technology. Deployment on an enterprise level was smooth thanks to BlueJeans excellent technical support.
Prior to BlueJeans, the firm did not have a standard soft codec video conferencing platform. Given that video conferencing is now an essential part of doing business, selecting a replacement product is much different from selecting a platform for the first time. If we were to do it over, I would recommend contacting several (approx 4-5) different VC app providers and asking their sales teams for full demonstrations. Then we would select our favorite two and conduct user testing.
