Overall Satisfaction with Checkout.com
We use Checkout.com payment gateway for collecting payments from customers who make hotel reservations on our website. We only use it for card payments. Recently also started using it for digital wallet payments (Apple Pay), soon will enable Google Pay too. However, would like to also offer APMs and instalment payments to our customers.
Pros
- 3Ds document is clear and mentions about liability shift
- Payouts are daily
- reports are easily accessible with reports API
Cons
- more APMs without the requirement for the merchant to have a company in the local market
- instalment payment options with free instalment to customers in various regions
- showing balance figures in dashboard
- Enabled Apple Pay only through Checkout.com because the 3DS document was well-written and clear about liability shift conditions
The settlements are daily in Checkout.com. However, the fees could have been lower. 3DS documentation is clear in Checkout.com, which is why we only activated Apple Pay through the Checkout.com payment gateway. The dashboard is easy to use for setting fraud rules. Analysis boards could have been better - i.e. the decline reasons for payments are shown with reason codes, which is inconvenient to go and check every time what this code is.
