Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
Business has unsecured wired networks where anyone can connect a user device and get access to the live network. Using dot1x with Cisco Identity Services Engine with unauthorised access criteria and logging has secured the network and quarantined unwanted devices. It has also helped us with identifying a device with fingerprints for non user devices.
Pros
- Ability to have certificate authentication for wired and wireless devices
- Automation and APIs
- Logging for threats
- Solution for a guest network
Cons
- Load balancing among different resources
- Better reporting and monitoring of the Cisco Identity Services Engine itself when deployed as a VM
- Better MFA options
- Less operational cost on security operations
