This Phone has the cutest (and most amazing!) little camera!
Overall Satisfaction with Cisco IP Phone 8800 Series
Currently it is only being used by my department but we are looking at it and evaluating it to be used across the company. Though this model might only be used by Executives and their EA's in the end because it's kind of a fancier model. It has great features and the ease of use that it gives to the user is fantastic. The interface is simple and intuitive and because of that it solves the need to train the user to use it. It just come naturally.
Pros
- Setup, ease of use and management.
- Voice quality on calls in top notch, with the handset or speakerphone.
- The camera with video is seamless and fluid and actually a great addon to this device.
Cons
- There are some more advanced features that are not explained very well. Just took some digging to figure out and we don't think many will use them so we aren't training on them.
- We try not to have desk phones, but in the spaces where one is needed, this one fits the bill and runs off the platform (Cisco Webex Calling) that we already use. So not having to run a second PBX or other solution just saves so much time and money.
- Some people don't really like the camera pointing at them but Cisco did include a little shutter for it so that makes it all good!
We stacked these phones against the Polycom and Snom phones. But overall the setup, configuration and everything was better on the Cisco phones. So we are looking at sticking with them as a standard and removing all the Polycom stuff that we currently have.
Honestly the biggest thing that I noticed was that video became a non-thought. Like it was just there, it worked, I didn't have to setup the camera or anything so I found myself using it more naturally. And since it was a Cisco phone of course it was beautiful and fluid and overall a great experience that as we move towards a video-first business model I hope this phone will help make the transition easier.
