Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MR Wireless Access Points

Cisco Meraki MR Wireless Access Points helps our organization to address the wireless connectivity problems for the users to connect to our internal LAN connection. The scope for the case is to have maximum connectivity over wireless connectivity rather than on wired connection to minimize patching problems and as it will easily assist networking team to isolate the issue as well.

Pros

  • Centralized management via Meraki Dashboard Cloud
  • Easy to deploy for users
  • Provides insight information in terms of devices, applications and etc which are connected

Cons

  • Looking forward to have the management locally rather than via Cloud
  • The licensing is kinda in mess since it is with the device as the functionality will stop if it is not renewed
  • There is limited option for local log retention
  • It helps to reduce operation costs as to manage multiple locations, Cisco Meraki MR Wireless Access Points has got option to centrally manage the devices
  • It has got capability for high-performance Wi-Fi 6 signals
  • Scalability and deployment is easy as in the future you can configure from cloud via zero touch provisioning
Firstly, the setup and zero-touch provisioning was great as it reduces on-site IT personnel during the setup, it has helped us to roll out faster for our various departments. Proactive alerts and monitoring has helped the networking team to action and proactively manage the problems before they arises thus downtime is reduced.
We have fully integrated Cisco switches to Cisco Meraki MR Wireless Access Points and this is mapped to thousand eyes for monitoring and troubleshooting purpose and Windows Server Active Directory is integrated for user authentication purposes.
As it is easy to deploy new devices and scale this for any locations as all the management are centrally controlled and monitored.
I feel that it is easy to integrate Cisco Meraki MR Wireless Access Points on the existing environment since it is on Cisco ACI and having one brand for management and deployment is easy since the engineers are well versed with the product and management.

Cisco Meraki MR Wireless Access Points can be well suited for medium sized enterprise customers whereby the device can be centrally managed. Situation where the same is not appropriate is for critical environments such as health services as hospitals require connections for data transmissions and management because if this is down and in case of emergency Cisco Meraki MR Wireless Access Points cannot be accessible from Cloud management.
