Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki MX
I use it as my security appliance, it is helping me as a firewall to connect my branches and headquarters networks. I really like it. I am an advocate for it. It helps me manage my network well better, but it is a bit too simple, and it comes with unexcited problems.
Pros
- SD-WAN
- Inter-VLAN routing
- Branch deployment
Cons
- High availability
- Active primary and secondary
- More uplink speeds for cheaper prices
- Simple management deployment
- Centralized management
- SD-WAN
It is all cloud based and we are all cloud first focused. We want some back ups on prem for the nice and important information. If the cloud goes down like Crowdstrike, you know like a petrol power emergency, although it will work right even if it loses connectivity to the dashboard.
The enormous difference between Catalyst and Meraki products is the granular and simple deployment. The Cisco security appliance firewall gives one and you more granular activity whereas the Cisco Meraki MX is focused on plug and play and it gets one and you going. I like Meraki but they both have their place in the working world.
