Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki vMX

We use Meraki VMX as a VPN concentrator for many different customers that have workload in Azure. It’s great compared to Azure VNG, as we can leverage Auto-VPN towards the sites and client VPN for end users.

Pros

  • VPN
  • Client VPN
  • Firewall

Cons

  • Firewall
  • Private DC Deployment
  • Advanced Security
  • Subscription service development
  • MSP possibilities
  • Lean IT
It's mainly used in deployments where we need a light SD-Wan implementation. Customers with several branches moving away from Azure VNG. The deployment is very simple and the customer benefits from the investment almost right after.
The VMX combined with MX firewalls on the branches is very scalable. We use it on small customer and larger ones without noticing any difference. We are though missing some of the advanced security features.
Meraki vMX is the most simple and intuitive platform to implement. It does though miss some security features that you get in Checkpoint CloudGuard og Palo Alto Next Generation firewalls.
