Overall Satisfaction with Conga CLM

We use it to handle SOW creation and contract management.

Pros

  • Document access control.
  • Document content management.

Cons

  • Being a standalone product not built on salesforce.
  • Collaboration
  • Flexibility in configuration to match business processes.
  • Allow for easier queue based workflows.
  • We spend almost 3x time on contracts now than before. This was a mistake for us.
We're burning at least 1 FTE worth of hours now just monitoring and remediating issues caused by Conga CLM.
In our experience, because of system limitations, we couldn't build our ideal workflow, and what we ended up with was extremely poor and frustrating for us. This product was bought to allow people to collaborate in groups, but we found that you can not start an Office 365 review with a group of people, only individuals. In our experience, this causes nonstop issues as people work in teams and share work instead of being an army of individuals. In my opinion, this product feels like it was developed in a vacuum and lacks feedback from real-world use.
In my opinion, extremely poor by comparison. We could have used typical document rights management and approval workflows that are native in M365 to control documents instead of paying for a tool that is, in my opinion, really a hacked together set of modifications and plugins sitting on top of Sales Force. M365 is a full feature suite where Conga CLM is several plugins and integrations in what I think is a trench coat pretending to be an enterprise application.

Would you buy Conga CLM again?

No

I think it is a relatively good system, but, to me, it comes across as a modification of Salesforce that is overpriced for what it does. In my opinion, it relies too much on the Salesforce platform and Word plugins to function, ultimately making it a Frankenstein application that is inflexible and dependent on how these integrations into other platforms are built. In my experience, the O365 parallel reviews feature is underdeveloped and barely functions. There is no way to view or monitor at a high level what reviews are taking place or let a user or group of users participate in multiple reviews readily. In our experience, they are living out of their email inboxes and struggling to find what documents they should be reviewing or not. In our experience, the formal approval process is also convoluted, complex to navigate, and overly complicated while being over-restrictive by default. It's difficult for operations teams to monitor as well.
