Overall Satisfaction with Conga Composer

We use Conga Composer to design and print applications, contracts, budget materials, proposals, and board review materials. Our Conga Composer implementation includes template[s] in Microsoft Word and Excel as well as custom Conga Email templates to supplement out of the box Salesforce template functionality. Finally, we also use Conga Batch and Conga Sign to further leverage Conga functionality.
  • Complex data queries
  • Flexible templates, automated or locally downloaded
  • Configurable parameters for special requirements
  • Support has deteriorated significantly since the product was acquired
  • Significant learning onramp
  • Some product features are not compatible with Salesforce Lightning
  • Completely revolutionized budgeting and projections for our organization
  • With Conga Batch (add on product) reduce days of work into a few clicks
Ease of use for end users would definitely be a 10. Conga Solutions can be launched from a button or from a Lightning Component. However, the configuration of complex Conga Solutions is fairly complicated and takes a lot of training and specialized knowledge. Therefore, it is hard to say that Conga Doc Gen / Conga Composer is "easy" to use.
Using Conga Composer, we able to allow Salesforce Partner Community users to access the full functionality of downloading Doc Merges from a Digital Experience Site (fka Community Cloud). We have automated all of our document generation activities on demand and in "batches." This has reduced some aspects of our workload from days of manual tinkering to a few simple clicks.

Do you think Conga Composer delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Conga Composer's feature set?

Yes

Did Conga Composer live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Conga Composer go as expected?

No

Would you buy Conga Composer again?

Yes

I am a big fan of Conga Composer and I find that it is well suited for organizations that require complex merges, with data from multiple custom or standard objects arranged in tables. I think my organization has only just scratched the surface of everything we can do with solution parameters - despite being a super user and a certified Conga Composer professional! There are so many options and so much usefulness, it will take time to really dive in and leverage everything that Conga has to offer. For organizations that need to merge simple donation acknowledgement letters, Conga is probably too complex. Apsona offers a competitive product for that use case.

Using Conga Composer

40 - We are a philanthropic Foundation. The people who use Conga Composer are our Program Staff, our Grantees, our Grants Management (operations) staff, our Legal Counsel, and our Finance team. We also use Conga Composer and Docusign for legal contract needs.
2 - Both of our admins who support Conga Composer are certified (Salesforce Administrator - minimum) as well as trained with Conga University training modules. Conga Composer administration and configuration requires a fairly sophisticated understanding of data modelling (SQL or SOQL familiarity is a huge plus), a problem solver attitude, and attention to detail.
  • Contracts
  • Printing applications
  • Sending reminder emails with custom merge tables
  • Budget to Actual reporting
  • Attendance sheets/name tags
  • Custom email templates
  • Automated and scheduled merge solutions
  • Further leverage batch capabilities
  • Streamlined template management with conditional clauses
We are heavily invested in Conga Composer and any switch would require a significant amount of effort. We are also happy with the service, price, and features.

Evaluating Conga Composer and Competitors

Yes - Before we implemented Salesforce, we used a locally hosted relational database that leveraged Crystal Reports for the docgen function. It was out of date and not compatible with Salesforce.
  • Product Features
  • Prior Experience with the Product
Conga Composer came recommended from the Implementation Partners who were responsible for the initial buildout and migration to Salesforce. I know that it is widely utilized in the Foundations industry vertical. The feature set closely matched our use case, and we have further leveraged Conga Composer as we have had time to refine our systems and processes.
I would continue to use Conga Composer if I was offered the opportunity to choose again!
I think Nintex is the primary competitor for Conga Composer, but I have not personally used it. I was not present for the decision to purchase Conga but I would recommend it in future document automation vendor selection processes because I have seen how well it works! We are especially fond of complementary features in Conga Composer, including Conga Email Templates and Conga Global Merge.
