Overall Satisfaction with Datadog
We use Datadog for Application Performance Monitoring that includes metrics monitoring, logging, Tracing. This helps in analyzing application or database slowness or inefficient code paths.
We also use it for Infrastructure Monitoring that includes - CPU, Memory, Disk usage, Network traffic, Host availability and health. This helps in detecting the load on our servers or hardware components.
Datadog Dashboards have helped us in visualizing metrics, logs and traces in real-time.
With Datadog's efficient alerting mechanisms and Incident Management, we have been able to detect multiple user-impacting issues proactively.

Pros
- Application Performance Metrics
- Log Management
- Synthetics and Browser Monitoring
- Dashboards
Cons
- Datadog Log Management is excellent, however 20% INFO log sampling for our organization have started to cause issues with teams that requires 100% INFO logs for RCAs. There should be a way to get this done.
- Enhanced AI capabilities and features
- Community and Ecosystem Growth. Launch a marketplace for integrations, plugins and open-source observability tools.
- Faster Incident Detection and Resolution - Reduces MTTR and MTTD.
- Improved Observability across teams - enhances team collaboration and cross-functional visibility.
- Data-Driven decision making - Informs cloud spend and performance improvements that helps in taking right steps towards app observability.
- High Cost - Can strain budgets or reduce ROI if not actively managed. Probably the only negative impact I could think of.
Datadog is best for cloud-native and fast-setup. It is more mature for infrastructure and real-time observability. The UI is more user-friendly and provides wide coverage of app insights.
