Overall Satisfaction with Datadog

We use it for security capabilities (SIEM, SCA, eventually SAST/IAST) and analytics for engineers.

Pros

  • Content Packs and Alerting.
  • Providing in tool security solutions.
  • Creating a service catalog for the team.

Cons

  • Easier implementation for systems that do not have content packs.
  • Better documentation around security tools.
  • Release secrets security tool.
  • While we haven’t quantified the ROI yet, Datadog has improved our visibility into system performance and helped us identify and resolve issues faster. This has likely contributed to greater uptime and more efficient use of engineering time.
  • Improved reporting through dashboards for compliance.
  • Supports incident response.
Very easy tool to work in Datadog, and a lot feels more like "clickops" than having to have detailed technical expertise to understand what is going on in the system.
We have utilized a SIEM in the past, but it was a very manual process to set it up. Content packs make it very easy to set up and get alerting instantly. Datadog takes out a lot of headaches for our security team, since they no longer have to create custom alerts for every system.

Do you think Datadog delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Datadog's feature set?

Yes

Did Datadog live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Datadog go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Datadog again?

Yes

If a company is or is not already utilizing Datadog, I would strongly recommend using the internal security tools that Datadog provides, such as SCA, SAST, and IAST. It allows Application Code Security tooling to be centralized and easy to implement into teams' workflows that are already used to working in Datadog.
