Overall Satisfaction with Db2

Our organization use IBM Db2 to leverages its features such as Performance Optimization, backup and recovery, and resource management to ensure the reliability, scalability and performance of our backend used for demanding API-driven applications. It also plays a crucial role in making sure data integrity, security and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • High Availability Disaster Recovery
  • Scalability
  • Real-time Data Processing
  • Open Source Initiatives
  • Automated performance tuning
  • Simple configuration
  • Cost saving and efficiency with scalability
  • Higher initial investment and complexity
  • Enhanced data governance and compliance
Our organization implemented Db2 to support API applications which require both horizontal and vertical scalability. Horizontal scalability is achieved by table and databases partitioning, while vertical scalability is supported by optimizing query performance and efficiently utilizing hardware resources. It is used as backend for various API driven applications owned by business users from different directorate from accros the organization.
Db2 offers High Availability Disaster Recovery (HADR) to ensure availability by maintaining standby replicas of the database. in the event of a failure HADR can automatically switch to standby system, minimizing down time and ensuring continuous availability of the API services. Moreover, other recover features like the automated backup, point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery planning contribute significantly in our organization busines continuity.
Compared to similar products, Db2 shared common Relational DataBase Management System (RDBMS) features such as SQL support, data integrity, Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation and Durability (ACID) Compliance and concurrency control. However, the Db2 is designed for scalability, supporting both horizontal and vertical scaling. It also integrated with AI and machine learning tools and offers deployment flexibility, including on-premise and cloud environments.

Do you think Db2 delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Db2's feature set?

Yes

Did Db2 live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Db2 go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Db2 again?

Yes

Db2 excels in mission-critical applications requiring high availability, scalability, and robust security. It may be less suitable for smaller projects with limited resources, as its initial setup can be complex. It's well-suited for industries like finance, healthcare, and telecommunications. Meanwhile, organizations which heavily invested in non-relational databases might find a transition challenging.
