Overall Satisfaction with Dynatrace

Dynatrace is heavily used by development teams across the entire organisation to manage the software development environment. The biggest positive from using Dynatrace is that code debugging has become extremely efficient - faster as well as more accurate. Additionally, Dynatrace is used to monitor the performance of several of our application environments, especially in production.
  • Dynatrace AI is quite useful in providing updates
  • Intuitive - Dynatrace is very quick to setup and easy to use
  • Deeper insights into container application monitoring when compared to most other tools
  • Dynatrace is not very affordable for SMEs
  • The more advanced features are not very intuitive and require formal training
  • Does not integrate with legacy version systems
  • Significantly improved the efficiency of rollouts with quicker deployments
  • Debugging is no longer as painful as it used to be, thereby saving a lot of time
  • Predictive monitoring allows us to preemptively act of issues and drive down costs
Like I mentioned earlier, Dynatrace is a great tool but comes with a heavy price tag.
On the other hand, Foglight offers a slightly lower level of expertise in application monitoring but fulfils almost all the requirements you would commonly have. The only major feature lacking in Foglight is the predictive monitoring feature. If you are an SME struggling with budgets, then predictive monitoring is something you can certainly live without.
Given that Dynatrace has become an informal industry standard, the plethora of information available on forums is massive. Most problems or roadblocks you come across are most likely (almost certainly, in fact) already solved and solutions available on these forums. The tech support at Dynatrace is also quite good, with prompt and knowledgeable people at their end.

Do you think Dynatrace delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Dynatrace's feature set?

Yes

Did Dynatrace live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Dynatrace go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Dynatrace again?

Yes

For larger organisations that deal with continuous integration and continuous deployment, Dynatrace can improve the efficiency of your rollouts tremendously. The application monitoring tools are top-notch in the industry.
However, Dynatrace is quite expensive! If you run a small or medium enterprise with tight budget constraints, you might want to consider a simpler alternative.
