Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use ExakTime to track our labor hours across multiple jobs for both payroll and job costing purposes. And we are in the process of implementing equipment usage for accurate billable hours as well as maintenance tracking. The mobile app makes it super easy for our field crews to clock in and out of jobs during the day.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Clocking in and out of jobs is very easy.
Running reports and filtering by employees, locations and jobs is quick and easy.
Quick and easy to set up jobs and geo fencing.

Cons

I wish there was a way to allocate our labor burden for salaried employees based on the fixed weekly salary rather than actual hours worked.

ExakTime Tailored Features

Geo location helps back office staff determine if field employees clocked into the correct job. This is a good feature when you have many small jobs going on within miles of each other.

Usability

It is very easy for back office staff to correct a time card, whether for the job number or the hours worked. We haven't had any complaints from our field crew, so new employees can get up to speed in a day.

The best scenarios are when you have an hourly labor crew as Exaktime will allocate labor burden based on regular and overtime hours (on a weekly basis). Salaried employees who log actual hours in ExakTime are more challenging as there is no way for it to allocate out based on a fixed weekly salary, only on actual hours.
