Overall Satisfaction with Expensify

I have been using Expensify for several years. When I was in a corporate environment, it was mainly to track expenses while traveling and aid in submitting an organized report to the corporate systems. Since starting a small business, I have used it to track expenses throughout the year to make taxes easier.

Pros

  • Automatically reads receipt emails and converts them to expenses
  • Loads expenses from company credit card
  • Allows me to set up rules to organize expenses as they come in

Cons

  • Some analytics would be helpful when reviewing at year-end
  • Entering multiple similar expenses has improved, but could be made easier
  • Consolidating duplicates from different sources such as email and credit card, can be confusing
  • Saves me dozens of hours at end-of-year for organizing write-offs
  • Creates detailed and professional-looking reports when billing clients for travel and other expenses
  • Saved me 100's of hours of expense consolidation over years of corporate travel

Expensify has been incredibly useful to me for many years. Considering I am using the free version, it's hard to find a better value! If your company does not have a good expense-capturing system, Expensify will save you hours on submitting reports. You can take a picture and toss the paper receipts right at the point of sale without worrying about losing them during your travels. If you have a small business, you can use it to track and organize regular expenses to make billable expenses and end-of-year taxes a whole lot easier.
