75 Time Savings Over Spreadsheet Expense Reporting
Overall Satisfaction with Expensify
We started using Expensify two years ago to report business expenses for reimbursement. Before we started using it, we employees had to fill out spreadsheets and send in PDFs of our receipts. The old system took me an excruciating 2 solid days of work per month. When we switched to Expensify, that workload dropped to less than four hours per month immediately. My colleagues across the organization reported similar dramatic shifts in workload.
Pros
- Both app and browser interface are intuitive and easy to learn.
- The receipt-scanning function saves hours of data entry. I work in Europe, and it even decodes foreign language/currency receipts reliably.
- Simple to split receipts between different reimbursement accounts.
Cons
- Sometimes the app is slow to scan receipts.
- When splitting a receipt, you can't change all the expense's details. Instead, you need to save the split and then re-enter the split-off expense to edit the details. It's minor, but it adds an extra step.
- Using Expensify has reduced my monthly expense reporting time burden from 16 hours down to 3 or 4.
- It's so easy to use, I almost look forward to reporting expenses. I am far more likely to submit regular reports and get regular reimbursement since I don't dread the task.
