Overall Satisfaction with GiveSmart

We use GiveSmart as an event/donation platform for our annual gala and fundraising events. The platform assists with guest registrations and check-ins, donations leading up to and on the day of the event, and easy payments for post-event transactions and the checking-out process. Our most significant use for GiveSmart is for donor-related events and registrations.

Pros

  • Easy Check-In and Check-Out process on the day of the event.
  • Creating campaigns and items to be billed within the campaign is easy to set up.
  • Gathering donor details is easy.

Cons

  • The distribution reports do not separate what campaign the transactions were for.
  • Revenue reports do not clearly state the CC fees for each transaction, which requires manual calculations.
  • We could not change the item a transaction was billed to if it was wrong. For example, if a donor made a restricted donation but was labeled unrestricted, we were told there was no way to correct it, so we had to keep track of those changes on the side.
  • It made it easy for donors to pledge or make a donation on the night, making it easy for them to contribute towards our mission and cause.
  • Provided donor insights that made it easy to follow-up with them post-event.
  • It took too much time for our Accounting team to reconcile the distribution reports, separate restricted and unrestricted revenue, and calculate the CC fees associated with each.
GiveSmart is the platform that was already grandfathered when I entered my role. I used Kindful at my last job and GiveSmart at this one. GiveSmart's check-in and check-out process is significantly more accessible and user-friendly. Still, Kindful was used in sync with Square, and the distribution reports in Square separated the payments based on the item purchased vs. the entire payment from one donor. This made it possible to separate the CC fees associated with unrestricted and restricted revenue without manually calculating it.
GiveSmart is great because it allows us to set up and automate things. However, if a correction needs to be made, it's not very easy to undo that. Also, many of the reports cannot be customized, and we are at the mercy of what is already set up in the reporting structure. This is very limiting at times.
We contacted support for clarification on distributions and reporting, and we continued to get escalated. However, we never had our questions answered or resolved, which was a bummer. Other members have contacted support for other reasons and received the help they needed.

Do you think GiveSmart by Momentive delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with GiveSmart by Momentive's feature set?

No

Did GiveSmart by Momentive live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of GiveSmart by Momentive go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy GiveSmart by Momentive again?

Yes

I believe GiveSmart is a platform that can be utilized for events where there isn't too much crossover between various departments. It can be hard to separate the distributions when events cross over the timeline with revenue allocated to different areas. The platform set up for the day of an event is excellent and very user-friendly. From an Accounting perspective, reconciling the revenue cannot be easy.
