Google Cloud CDN Compared
Overall Satisfaction with Google Cloud CDN
We use Google Cloud CDN for live ecommerce and experience websites for our customers, the Google Cloud CDN is being used to distribute static assets and serve the final users with a lower latency. It is being used together with other services like Cloud Armor and Load Balancing since it's pretty easy to integrate together with those
Pros
- Network Latency
- Content Delivery
- Static Assets
Cons
- Advanced Image Management
- Enhanced Protection
- Ease of use
- Lower Costs for egress traffic
- Higher ratings in website analysis tools due to improved networking
- Akamai App & API Protector, Akamai Ion, Akamai Bot Manager, Akamai CDN, Akamai mPulse, Akamai NetStorage and Cloudflare
Akamai and Cloudflare are leaders in the CDN and Security sectors. Akamai has a very strong capability and execution in terms of enterprise services. Their offerings are are somewhat similar in some aspects but there is no products in the respective markets that compares to their offering. Google Cloud CDN can cover all of the essential tools that an infrastructure would need but for any advanced requirement on the CDN side that goes beyond simple Content Delivery and Network Throughput, i might reccomend other products just like Akamai or Cloudflare. Especially nowadays, an automated or semi-automated bot management solution would be key as a standard offering in a CDN for any live web service. Cloud Armor and other classic WAF solutions are not entirely suitable
