Overall Satisfaction with Google Compute Engine
Google Compute Engine is an Infrastructure as a service component of GCP. We are able to deploy and downsize any virtual service using this service. Our organization is transitioning from on prem to cloud and this service enables us to save cost on both capex and open. We are able to deploy multiple instances of virtual servers when the demand is high and we can downsize when the demand is low. The pay as you go model has been very beneficial during the budget excercise to save additional cost
Pros
- Hosting applications or web servers
- Multiple instances of virtual servers can be spun up
- Pre prod environment is set up for all the testing before it's scheduled on prod servers.
Cons
- The GCP in general is a little complicated cloud service provider thn AWS/Azure
- Low availability on south america locations
- On prem servers have been decommissioned which has saved a lot of money
- The infrastructure support is provided by Google which has reduced our operational cost
- The security has multiple layers and all the data is 100% secured
