Overall Satisfaction with Google Vault

Google vault is essentially document retention and search indexing software tool. We used it to primarily vault all the important documents for safekeeping and managed retrieval later. Also, there were emails, drive files along with google group messages and even google sites, production code at times which was in put in the vault for safekeeping.

The product is similar offering but it is already well integrated into the other g-suite products that we use. It works really well in terms of searching and indexing documents. Other products seemed more elaborate and were complex to implement and use. Since our use case was rather simpler data backup and retrieval, hence it seemed a good fit to implement.

Google vault is good to use when you have large document files which needs to be put in cold storage or turn cold storage to hot storage in case the documents need to be retrieved. I t works well on automating tasks around till how long one needs to hold on to the data and then retire the documents as well. Some areas where the Google Vault would be less useful is if some documents needs to be used frequently and they are put in the vault as Google Vault is expensive to use very frequently.
