Overall Satisfaction with HID DigitalPersona (formerly Crossmatch)

We have used Digital Persona for almost a decade to manage security across our organization. We have found that the ability to integrate it into our Active Directory as well as industry-specific applications has allowed us to up our security, lessen support with respect to forgotten passwords, and worry less about shared passwords or allowing access to forbidden applications.

Pros

  • Strong passwords without increasing support load on IT Staff.
  • Flexible password requirements for different levels of authentication.

Cons

  • Doesn't integrate easily with all browsers.
  • Would like more biometric functionalities (facial recognition, etc.).
  • Lower downtime for password reset
  • Lower support costs and burden for IT staff for "what's my password" questions.
We have been using DigitalPersona for so long I honestly can't remember what other applications we considered. We have been happy with the application for so long that I haven't seen any need to research other solutions.
It works very well with a stable workforce with low to moderate turnover. Although user setup is relatively streamlined, Digital Persona wouldn't be nearly as effective in an environment with high turnover or many independent contractors requiring access to different applications and environments inside of the organization.
