Great tool! I love the Emojis that we can add. We use the Room tool all the time and find it super useful for organizing meetings, calls, etc.
It's very easy to find anyone within the company and contact them quickly and efficiently. I would recommend HipChat to any company of equivalent size.

- The "Room" feature is a great tool - can create a message thread for specific group members (i.e. for a meeting, upcoming event, etc.)
- Many Emoticons that add flavor to any conversation. You can also create your own, which is highly entertaining.
- Easily contact any employees within the company. With just a simple search you can find anyone within the company and contact them quickly.
- If you are part of a Room but offline, you are not notified when messages are sent into this Room. Even a simple number of unread messages next to the Room would be a great addition.
- The "___ is typing" feature doesn't always work. Oftentimes it does not appear even when the other person is indeed typing. If this feature could be rolled out into Rooms as well, that would be a welcome improvement.
- The Video Chat feature never has worked great for me - typically very jerky and the audio does not sync with the video, causing for a very aggravating call.
- Outlook and Skype
I use Skype in addition to HipChat. I find that Skype has a much better Video feature, while I prefer HipChat's chat features. HipChat feels much more professional than Skype when it comes to chats. But I have yet to have a Video call that has gone through successfully, which is why I continue to use Skype.
