Overall Satisfaction with HipChat
We are using HipChat across our organization. We're a small startup team of 14 and HipChat allows us to quickly touch base with one another, get quick information we need, and share life/fun updates as well. It minimizes the amount of email we send as well.
Pros
- Easy to share documents
- Autopopulates link information into the chat
- 1:1 chat rooms
- Chat rooms that can be public or private between invited members
Cons
- I've tried to get rid of the desktop notifications for chats but they continue to pop up, which is distracting for me (but perhaps helpful for others).
- If I log out and log back into HipChat after a certain amount of time, sometimes I can't see which rooms I've missed messages in (no notifications).
I personally have only used Gchat in other work settings. HipChat definitely has more functionality. We also use Asana separate from HipChat to manage projects.
