Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Continuous Delivery
At my company, we use the IBM Cloud Continuous Delivery service to validate in a development setting the changes my co-workers and I make every day. It helps us to automate the testings and code readability in the delivery pipeline, that way we can keep with code guidelines to keep Ithe maintainability.
- The setup is really easy and intuitive.
- Integrates easily with other IBM Cloud services.
- The initial log of errors is helpful.
- When a build fails, the only way to gather detailed information about the error is through the terminal.
- Sometimes it has failed without a clear reason. However, this doesn't happen frequently and after a couple of minutes, the problem is usually fixed.
- Sometimes you might want more personalization of the delivery pipeline, and in that case, it becomes a lot less intuitive.
- Ability to continuously test the code.
- Improve code readability with automated testings.
- Fast deployment.
I find IBM Cloud Continuous Delivery service way easier to set up compared to Travis CI. The visual interface helps you navigate throughout the service effortlessly. I used Travis CI 2 years ago, although it wasn't complicated, I took more time to create and set up an instance with a project. However, I did get the feeling that for advanced settings, I was more in control than when I compare it to IBM's alternative. Nonetheless, from a day to day perspective, I rather choose IBM's over Travis CI.
