Overall Satisfaction with IBM Power Systems Virtual Server
We use IBM Power Systems Virtual Server to host various information systems that handle thousands of transactions daily throughout the university. We generate diverse reports and transfer and receive data from different external sources.
- Stable system, very little downtime
- You can run them on legacy business systems
- Graphical interface is easy to use
- A little expensive
- It still relies on old green screen
- Can be complex for users who do not have a lot of experience with IBM systems
- It has helped us consistently provide services on time
- Ability to run virtual servers significantly reduces hardware and maintenance costs
- It does require significantly more training of our employees though, particularly those who do not have a lot of experience with IBM products
Having the existing infrastructure made it an easier transition. We didn't think it would be efficient to change, especially since we were happy with the IBM products we have used in the past. I wanted to do my due diligence just to be sure.
