Overall Satisfaction with Informatica PowerCenter

Informatica PowerCenter is widely used as an integration tool across many projects. This is being used in specific departments. It lets us connect to endless sources in order to pipe data out into different available repositories. Primarily it feeds our various data warehouse and data marts. Also this is being used in Salesforce implementation project to transfer data from Flat files and Relational databases to Salesforce Objects.

Pros

  • Extracting, transforming and loading data to and from different databases.
  • Development, testing and maintenance of code is fairly simple.
  • Good performance even during processing of large amount of data.
  • Amazing ability to connect with different types of sources and targets available in the market.

Cons

  • Performance with ODBC drivers is comparatively slow which ends up in taking a lot of time.
  • Deployment is bit complex.
  • Clobs and Blobs datatypes are very difficult to handle.
  • Reduced time for transforming data.
  • Multiple projects are being handled.
  • Availability of easy resources in the market to employee.
This is great tool to handle large data in multiple data sources.
It is very simple to use and supports multiple functionalities which makes your life easy.
On-time and satisfactory replies from support team if any issue is raised.

This is an amazing tool to handle large data in multiple batches. Also, this is best suited if you have data in different data sources but if you are looking for a tool to use with single data source then there are multiple tools available in the market which are comparatively cheaper.
