inMotion Hosting keeps my websites moving!

Overall Satisfaction with inMotion

I use inMotion Hosting to host all of my Virtual Private Server websites. If I have a client with a server intensive application, inMotion Hosting is the host I use to implement the project. The VPS hosting allows me to carve resources out in a customized way to allot memory and CPU resources to each client as needed.

Pros

  • Reliability - never had downtime to this point.
  • Fast response - chat support is usually within 10 minutes.

Cons

  • inMotion Hosting shared hosting is limited in I/O but this isn't advertised.
  • First line of tech support could be a little more technically trained.
  • VPS hosting allows multiples sites on the same server, saving money.
  • VPS site speed is incredibly fast.
inMotion shared hosting has not been as reliable as HostGator due to the aforementioned I/O limitations. inMotion VPS hosting is much more affordable than HostGator. I've found inMotion customer support to be much more reliable and responsive than HostGator at every level. inMotion VPS management is very easy to use for controlling the backend of the VPS environment.
First level support is very friendly and rather quick in response. Like most first level agents, they aren't always up on technical details. Usually problems are solved on the first attempt, but I've had a few instances where I needed to talk to second tier. Support chat transcripts are always available via email afterwards so it's good for documentation.

For VPS hosting, they're the only host I use or would recommend. They have a budget friendly approach and the resources advertised are accurate. I was disappointed (and unfortunately surprised) to see the I/O limitations of 1MB/s imposed on their shared reseller hosting. It's not advertised but really does cripple shared reseller hosting as nearly any activity on the site immediately starts affecting performance.
