Jama Connect Review

Our organization uses Jama for requirements and risk management, as well as design verification and validation activities. Jama allows us to maintain traceability between system and subsystem requirements, test cases, and risk file line items. Having a single source of truth for our design history file content has been extremely valuable for future iterative new product development projects and scope assessments for design changes.

We expected the following outcomes from adopting Jama Connect:
- Centralized requirements management, allowing for traceability between systems in an integrated system of systems context
- Stable item IDs automatically output into appropriate documents to reduce burden of manual entry and copy-paste in Word or Excel
- Content reuse, making it easier to start up a new product development process by leveraging existing content

Jama Connect has effective collaboration tools, in line with what users have come to expect from an authoring tool, including comments with tagging features and a robust review management system.
The main benefit of Jama Connect is the centralized management of requirements traceability across system hierarchy levels and between interoperable systems. This Jama does very well, with multiple ways to view your item relationships and robust options for configuring relationship types and directionality.
