Jama, from the company of the same name in Portland, Oregon, is an application lifecycle management platform.https://media.trustradius.com/product-logos/4h/SF/FHT3NGI7452O.PNGRequirements collaboration at it's finestJama is used to gather client requirements for employee benefits. Jama's business purpose across our organization and clients is to collaborate on tracking changes and requesting sign-offs. This allows us to set up the benefits enrollment system for employees to elect employer-sponsored benefits.,Tracks changes Collaborate between organizations Provides up-to-date content.,Once an approval or sign-off is received the page(s) do not automatically update and need to be transitioned. Highlight feature does not always work. It would be a nice functionality if a page had the ability to change color in the tree in order to call out a section as needed.,10,Positive impact on our overall business has been the ability to organize information between different departments (shared services) in a consolidated place for clients.,Online collaboration with clients to provide a one-stop shop for different/shared services.,Prior to Jama, our organization utilized Word and Excel which did not provide the traceability Jama provides.,Microsoft Office 2016,Microsoft Office 2016, Cisco Webex Teams (formerly Cisco Spark)Jama ConnectWe are working for the health and welfare of various clients in the US. Being in the configuration team, we use it to gather requirements from client managers and use it to maintain and provide reports with all the requirements back to Client managers which are further shared with end clients. All reporting is done using Excel. Now, all the requirements of each client are loaded onto Jama Connect with good presentation of data and will be used in the future for any changes in requirements or updates. Jama has made our life easier in terms of updating requirements in a systematic manner. Currently, it is been used in the Health and Welfare department of the company.,Tabular representation of data Easy to access A smarter way to represent and store your requirements.,If we attach any file to any field we get the information of the last editor below the attachment. But if we don't do any attachments and make any changes we get the information on another page. If we could get the editor name on the page itself it will be much easier to access the name of the person who last edited.,10,Till now, Jama has provided a positive impact on our business by reducing the task of reporting from scratch which takes a lot of time. With Jama we just have to make changes to the existing data and save it.,Our client's requirement data is much more sorted which has helped us reduce escalations from clients as the requirement is much more clear and has removed the layer of miscommunication between clients and the company.,In our company, we manually make reports using MS Word and Excel, which takes lots of time and doesn't present clear data. Excel updates also use to make files messy which resulted in missing requirements. Jama has made life easier and very effective as data is much clearer and helpful for us to work with.,,Microsoft 365 BusinessJama Connect for the win!Jama Connect is being used to manage health and welfare, defined contribution, and defined benefit plan provision version control for a multitude of our clients. We also leverage Jama Connect to manage any change or update to these requirements as well. Lastly, Jama Connect houses all of our standard operating procedures and file interface/layout information. It really is a one stop shop!,Jama Connect is great for establishing version control. No more messy "tracked changes" issues within Microsoft Word documents! Jama Connect links similar requirements information together with ease. This really helps when several updates are needed for different requirements or plan provisions. Jama Connect is very user-friendly!,There are lag time issues, specifically with Internet Explorer. While the tool is user-friendly, a more robust library of FAQ's or "how-to" instructional videos would be helpful.,8,Jama Connect has had a positive impact on our overall efficiency of implementing plan provision changes.,Overall, our organization expects to achieve an increase in efficiency with respect to plan provision updates and changes.,Jama Connect is definitely a step up from the previous measures our organization had in place. The ease of which you can update, publish, and link information from one section of requirements to another is really nice.,,Webex Meetings, Microsoft Office 2016, Skype for Business (formerly Lync)One-stop shop to organizing requirements and boost team productivity. At our organization we switched to Jama starting roughly 2 years ago for our client requirements and I can say that the organization of requirements as well as version control, version history and client sign off features are a few of my favorites.,Jama is great for organizations that handle large-scale project requirements as well as helping to clearly see any updates made to a specific requirement. The ability to share requirements directly to the page with a URL is a great feature that we use a lot in our company. The ability to have the client sign off on individual requirements is a great feature that we use as a standard now.,The one area that I have seen issues in is that getting to the open projects that are pending sign off has been difficult. The default hides them so you have to know to go up and change the defaults to find the signoff requests that are open. Other than I can't really think of anything else.,10,The organization of requirements to one location has been the greatest boost to the team's ability to easily find the information needed to do our system development.,A one-stop shop for client requirement information.,Very helpful. We are now able to just go to one location and have all the projects organized which before would require many shared internal drives and folder structures as well as documents that could be updated by multiple people at the same time which caused version control problems.,,MS SharePointJama- a nice thought but not worth the clicksJama has been implemented and is being used by our whole organization. We are using it to put our clients' business rules/requirements along with other documentation into one standard format.,From what I have heard, there is effective version control (can't lose work due to others editing at the same time). Good organization. In edit mode, there is good functionality similar to Microsoft Word.,Would like to be able to edit all in one place. When converting everything over from a Word document, there is endless clicking, opening/closing of tabs, etc. At least for the first time putting everything into Jama, I wish it could be less opening/closing of the million different pages we need to fill individually. Not intuitive for creating new sections/pages. Too many panes- headers, titles, footers, etc. that make the page look so messy, and the content pane itself is too small. The actual meat of the page seems to get lost.,3,I am not the right person to answer this question as we have not introduced our resulting documentation to the client yet and are not sure how they will react.,Per Alight: Adopting Jama, a modern, purpose-built requirements tool, will help drive quality through the requirements, development and testing lifecycle while reducing cycle times. It will improve our way to capture requirements consistently, enable requirements traceability, save soft dollars on E&Os, and even change how we do change orders/how we configure the system. Alight wanted one consistent tool for our requirements.,Honestly, I think a Word document with a table of contents can be just as effective as this complex and time-consuming tool as long as we are tracking changes and managing communications with the client efficiently. I do not see the real reason for Jama.,MS SharePointGood cloud-based requirement management and evolution solution, with room to improve processesJama Connect is the source of truth for requirements within the SKA Organisation (SKAO). We have used internally within SKAO to communicate between Engineering, Operations, and Scientists, but also to do requirement reviews with external consortia, to get their input. We are also using it for requirement flow-down and traceability, and using several report tools. With the SKAO being a non-profit organization, the main goal is delivering maximum value for the system being designed and later implemented, and having an agile way of dealing with requirements helps us.,Having access to requirements from everywhere in the world. Requirement reports for document-centric parts of the development. Support for online reviews and discussions.,Cloud-based installations don't have full access to all reporting tools. Online reporting templates are not too customizable. Glossaries are not first-class citizens in Jama; it should be possible to link to glossary entries directly from requirements, and vice-versa.,8,We do not measure the Return of Investment, and we are finishing the Critical Design Review. We expect to be able to measure ROI in the form of increased contingency in the next phase. Engagement with the tool has not been universal; we had many people relying on the exported Word/PDF documents instead of providing feedback on Jama Connect directly or through reviews. We have been able to apply for a non-for-profit license for JIRA and Confluence; we don't seem to have such a possibility with Jama.,Easy management of requirements with integration to the Engineering Change Process. We have somewhat been successful in that, by creating reviews on sets of comments, and later importing the feedback into the system, but it is not too clear.,The internal model for Jama is sound, and traceability and suspect links are some of the best tools that we have. However, interoperability is not the best, and many times the requirements being provided by other parties needed a lot of massaging before being able to be imported in Jama.,IBM Rational DOORS,IBM Rational DOORS,9,Yes,They were able to diagnose a difficult fault… because the problem had been human generated without our knowledge. They were able to pinpoint the result, and provide a way of reverting a manual operation that, from the manual, could result in definitive loss of data. The data was recovered, and a new feature added for the future.Jama Connect First ImpressionJama Connect is being evaluated as a potential tool to do requirements verification and sell-off. For now, we will be evaluating it for one of our programs. Jama Connect has the potential to upgrade our current process to review and sell-off requirements via email to using a centralized web based tool.,Centralized location for coordinating requirements and test cases. Ability to capture various stakeholder comments and extract real time status. Ability to create relationships between various products to facilitate impact analysis.,Real time interface with DOORS and Cameo EA. Ability to create custom metrics such as pie charts, bar graphs, etc.,8,We are still evaluating the tool for our needs. But it does look promising.,Our hope is that Jama Connect will allow our engineers to focus on the requirements technical content rather than on the process. Much time is consumed in tracking and statusing so we hope that will be a fall-out from using Jama Connect.,Given our manual process, Jama Connect is a definite improvement. So, assuming the learning curve is not steep and Jama Connect is stable, then we should see immediate improvements from the get-go.,,Yes,IBM Rational DOORS, Microsoft Office 2016Jama Review from a Jama Power UserWe use it as our primary requirements management tool for storing any work products related to requirements development. It is used across several departments here. We use it to characterize our requirements deck including rationale documentation and traceability.,Traceability Documentation Dependencies System of Record Decision-Making,Review Center General UX Report Configuration Feature Request turnaround Jama Documentation,7,"System of Record" as a concept Documentation Control and Maturity Improved communication Too many clicks, not enough UX features that most users expect from contemporary tools Review Center is cludgy,We expect for Jama to be the platform upon which we develop a mature requirements deck and decomposition work. While we have a mature understanding of Jama in terms of its strengths and limitations, which allows us to come up with the configuration we need to have a functional solution, we consistently struggle with the UX aspect, especially for non-regular Jama users like our developers. We are looking into creating a separate publishing platform to push Jama content to allow us to take advantage of Jama as a database and not force it to be full-stack.,I have not used other requirements management tools, but I have chatted with other engineers who have used other systems (MS Office, Jira, Doors, DNG) and I am pretty happy with Jama. We don't use the collaboration features too extensively (except maybe review center) because we have other communications platforms, but I think if it was more easily integrated with Jira that would change drastically.,No,JIRA Software, Atlassian Confluence, Google Drive, LucidchartAll in oneJama Connect is the best platform in terms of gathering data and Requirements in each and every aspect. It is very convenient to use you just have to raise a request for your credentials and also you can have access to a number of clients using the same credential. This Portal provides a Search bar in which you can search for any related topic you want which makes using Jama more convenient to use. They provide an option to look for older versions as well for any client. It is across the whole Organisation especially in India.,Can have access to a number of clients using the same credential. Compare Options is available for comparing new and old versions. Daily notifications alerts from Jama for any recent changes or updates on your work email.,I felts that some icons are too small in size that sometimes it's difficult to find them. UI has scope for improvement.,10,It is better to get client requirements gathered in Jama Connect than messing around with emails to get some specific details that one searches for. From a business point of view, it can consolidate ones work into one place, where a person can see all their project details and workflow in one place. Positive ROI for any IT organization that works on client-based projects.,Comparing Version tools, Chatting options, Activity logs, etc. features make the workflow smooth and compatible enough to make the organization projects go smoothly. Any Organization needs a platform that can fulfill business objectives and is easy to understand and handle. Jama Connect helps in achieving business goals by providing many efficient functionalities that are easy to understand and suitable to use in client projects.,When compared to other technologies or approaches, Jama Connect can be described as a platform that has too many features and functionalities. Jama Connect has a feature to reflect daily activities and workflow going on any client project. Reviews and streaming collaboration can be made or done by any employee on its respective project. Therefore, traceability of requirements can be maintained through this.Detailed and user-friendlyJama Connect helps our organization gather and organize internal and external requirements for our products and services. We use Jama across all of our teams to reference our ever-changing documentation and requirements. Jama helps provide quality version control and organization.,Jama provides each member of our team with organized and detailed documentation. We can add all of the information we need in a very structured way that is user-friendly. Jama helps our teams know we are looking at the latest and greatest requirements. It is easy to know which document is the latest and easy to see what changes were made to each version. Jama allows us to store a mass of information. Previously our teams relied on excel documents to store our requirements. This was very limiting to what we could do and how much data we could store. Jama has helped us upload many detailed requirement documents without lagging.,Jama could make it easier to toggle between different projects or search between multiple projects.,9,Jama has helped our teams save time by organizing all of our requirements in one place that is easily accessible and quick to search through. The structure is very intuitive and has improved our overall efficiency.,With requirements constantly changing, we expect to achieve better clarity and quality in our requirement reviews and system development. As our technology team heavily relies on the requirements documentation to set up our system, Jama will help us stay organized, keep version control, and reference old changes.,Jama is very effective at tracking changes. We previously used Excel to track our requirements and version control would get out of hand, or documents would get locked out. Jama is great for providing live updates and easy to reference versions of each change.,MS SharePoint,MS SharePoint, SnagitFirst Try Then Believe - Jama Connect - Make Your Project A SuccessJama Connect is used as a core base for requirement gathering of all clients in our Organization. All departments in our whole organization are dependent on Jama Connect when it comes to requirement gatherings of projects from clients as well as vendors. This is an effective portal for any organization that provides multiple services.,One can access all its client projects with a single set of credentials. Advance search option is also available apart from regular search in a project which makes an easy job to filter for items. Compare option is available for the versions to compare the updates made on previous requirements. Recent activities and chats of other colleagues working on the same project can be seen. Most important is the HELP icon that enables you to understand the workflow in Jama Connect.,Some additional tutorials can be added in the HELP icon that could make the user familiar with all of the functionality of Jama Connect. Many icons are too small to find in the first place. Need a visual tutorial to know about their functionality in detail.,9,Positive ROI for any IT organization that works on client-based projects. From a business point of view, it can consolidate ones work into one place, where a person can see all their project details and workflow in one place. It is better to get client requirements gathered in Jama Connect than messing around with emails to get some specific details that one searches for.,Any Organization needs a platform that can fulfill business objectives and is easy to understand and handle. Jama Connect helps in achieving business goals by providing many efficient functionalities that are easy to understand and suitable to use in client projects.Comparing Version tools, Chatting options, Activity logs, etc. features make the workflow smooth and compatible enough to make the organization projects go smoothly.,When compared to other technologies or approaches, Jama Connect can be said as a platform that has too many features and functionalities. Jama Connect has a feature to reflect daily activities and workflow going on any client project.Reviews and streaming collaboration can be made or done by any employee on its respective project. Therefore, traceability of requirements can be maintained through this.,Great and Effective Tool that Fosters Collaboration, Change RequestIt is currently used across the organization. It helps capture and house all of the updates to a given requirement. Comes in handy when building out test case/plans,Easy to track change. Great way to obtain and store the client's digital approval. Great with version control.,Table Properties: some we need to adjust the border or lines as that of Excel, I haven't located this feature. Spell Check: adding a feature next to the bold and italics buttons.,9,Effective with managing version control Historical comparison Reduction of rework,I have achieved quite a lot of results since moving to Jama. I have had success with managing version controls, collaborating with colleagues and clients. The tool has aided in tracking the client's progress, managing their comments/feedback and finally obtaining digital sign off on requirements defined.,We have used various tools in the past to help mitigate risk and much more, but I must say to date Jama is a lot more effective. I have found it very easy to identify changes and updates to requirements. The "activities" feature works very well to meet my needs.,Jama Jammer! We use Jama as a repository for system API and UI documentation, business, and functional requirements as well as test cases. The ability to generate formatted documents simplifies the creation of shareable documents for outside of our organization.,HTML formatted documentation can be built using the WYSIWYG editor with the ability to dive into HTML when I want. Hierarchical organization of data provides well organized data. Linking of data provides a reduction in documentation work when common requirements are repeated between multiple documents. Reviews offer an easy way for users to get feedback on their documentation.,I'd like to see an easier way to track my recent work and go directly to my work from the completed reviews.,9,Jama has allowed for better organization and storage of system documentation. Increased collaboration in documentation creation as more content is created in Jama now as opposed to workstations.,System documentation is more complete and readable, meaning quicker turnaround for research during incidents and enhancement architecture.,Jama is comparable to Confluence, but with the addition of the Jama review process.,JIRA Software, Atlassian Confluence, MS SharePoint, PostmanJama: simple and streamlineI have been using Jama for more than 2 years. I found it a very convenient platform that has facilitated requirements for gathering information and collaborating with other users working on the same goal of organizing and connecting ideas. It is very simple to use and navigate and allows all members to be connected and updated as a team.,Jama helped us with coordinating in a very effective way with its notification methods on a common goal or a piece of work. Every user feels connected through it no matter they are accessing it from. Users can comment, asks questions and communicate like they are doing it in a small forum and express their ideas to further improve the process. Connections between similar documents in a project greatly reduced the effort of navigating between pages and provides a smooth transition.,Accents can be added to explorer items for any new sub items added or for any recent modifications for easy identification. Page layouts can be modified further for easy and comfortable reading of large documents and to export any particular part of it. More export options can be added like images and PDFs. Exported items can be directly attached with the email with the Jama navigation tree to share with new users as required. Should enable users to add charts and images that help in describing the requirements effectively.,9,Reduced the unnecessary document exchange between users as now they all can share their ideas and make changes effortlessly on a common platform. Notifications for every change enables users to track progress. Different level of access can control the new modified versions of the document.,Better development of requirement gathering processes and improved coordinating between involved users.,As an internet-based tool, it requires only a browser to access and manage it even on cross platforms.,The BestJama Connect is used by our organization as an information-centric tool to have all our client requirements in one place. It is used by a large team in our organization. It bridges the gap between the client point of contact and the Tech team by holding all the client related documents in one place. All the colleagues use Jama as the main application for finding the details about the client's work.,Starting from the login page, the authentication is done very well, it is user-Friendly. It is soo quick and error-free, incorporating the ACID properties. Highly Secure User-friendly,The first thing would be the session time out duration. The pop-up blocks. Line of sight of the items being displayed.,8,The impact from the employee perspective is good. It holds good from the client perspectives as well. We do not see any negative impact relating to the ROI.,We have definitely achieved a positive outcome using Jama Connect. The old tool we were using was out-dated and did not support all our expectations as Jama Connect did. We wanted a data-centric tool which serves as a single point of contact for all our documents with increased speed, which positively landed up in Jama.,Jama has very good user authentication system, which was lagging behind in the previous application we were using and the speed of the application was very far behind when compared to Jama. It is very easy to scroll for the clients in the Jama Tool. Jama is user-friendly and it is very easy to change and update the password.,,SysTools Lotus Notes to Office 365 Migration ToolCrisp ReviewCurrently, Jama is used as a requirement gathering tool. It helps us compare the requirements with the current configuration in production. The USP of Jama is not just a requirement tool but a lot more. Any updates we make in the tool gets saved. By the help of this tool we can save Time and Money. The client is very happy to use this tool and we will convert all of our clients on to Jama. Plus, it's user-friendly as well.,Updates made can be easily tracked User friendly We can save a large amount of data.,The tool is good. I didn't get any missing functionally in it.,10,Our business objective is to capture client requirement and discuss all those into same platform. Initially we were using Excel, some time sheet was not open and some time sheet was so huge it was corrupted. But when we using this Jama tool. Anyone who is having access he/she can easily handle this.,Client happy without any confusion. Client and testing team can view same time at same time.,1. First thing, it's online and easily reachable to everyone in the team who has access.2. Second, we don't have to worry about storage running out.3. Many people can access it at the same time. It reminds me of a functionality we were using earlier that stated that "This document is locked for editing" since one person has already opened that. It's not the case with Jama.,JIRA Software,JIRA SoftwareJama: Creation, Conversion, Tracking, Reporting & Dashboard Made Easy for YouWe are an organization that is into US Benefits Administration. Whenever we win a new client, we configure them into our systems. To do that we get business requirements from client in MS Word/MS Excel. Now, with Jama coming in we are converting word requirements to Jama and going forward for new clients we are directly updating Jama with business requirements.,Customized templates can be created which can be pushed to different clients without the need of recreating every time. Dashboard & Reports can be created with ease and for multiple clients. this helps in getting insights and taking decisions Parties outside the organization can also access Jama. A different set of accesses can be defined as per user need like author, reader, administrator, etc. Document sync feature. Needless to say, Jama cuts down manual effort.,Formatting text needs to improvement like fonts types are not available. Formatting table needs improvement like within the table you cannot format the sub-level of bullet Smart Find/replace command that can be worked across different documents. Reporting: Table within the table is not pulled up in reporting, that needs to be corrected. Cell merge feature,9,Reduction in manual effort Tracking changes in requirement is now made easy and accurate. Leading to additional revenue,- Managing client business requirements in a systematic and robust manner- Tracking each and every change in client business requirements- Reducing manual effort in keeping requirements significantly,Before using Jama connect we were using MS Word and managing requirements manually and it was a very cumbersome process that took a long time. However, with Jama Connect following were benefits: Streamlined processTracking historyDashboard & ReportingSyncing documents feature,Robust and functional, but average user experienceJama Connect is currently being used by our organization in one main department, but other teams also have access and reference it from time to time. It addresses 3 main needs: to integrate with Jira which we use internally, to be our external face for our customers and to be our main source for reporting.,We like the feature where we can put things up for review externally and assign different people to either view or approve them. The dashboard is helpful to show the things that we find to be important and it's good that we can show what is important to us. I like the tree view to see into different levels as items are broken down. It makes things easier to find and keep organized.,Overall the user enjoyment could go up just by changing the font! It's not pretty to read, yet it's a lot of words. I'd like to see more functionality that can be turned off or turned on in the settings so that I can start basic and build out my instance easier as I need it. It would be nice to integrate with Jira without having to go through TaskTop.,5,The ability to allow external customers to see into only the pieces of information we want to share has been necessary. Allowing different teams to gather requirements and customer feedback in Jama and then allowing our internal development teams to use Jira has worked out well enough. It has all the functionality to be useful in many situations, but I'd love to see something a little more 'pretty' or fun to use.,We had a few main outcomes we were looking to achieve: Have a platform where we can connect with our customers and have back and forth. Be able to display some information externally and keep some information displayed internally only. Have 1 'source of truth'.We did achieve all of these outcomes, but we are now thinking about different ways to manage #3. In the end, it did not make sense to box the developers into one 'source of truth' if that source was Jama mainly because they need a wider array of tools than Jama in itself can provide.,Honestly, I really think it depends on your project whether using Jama is the right tool for you. There are a lot of options out there and I've used different tools in different environments. The collaboration function is good in Jama, but it's not enjoyable to use. The review functionality was crucial for this particular project we're on, and some of the leadership liked the traceability of requirements, even though it can get overwhelming when you're making a lot of changes!,JIRA Software, Trello, SmartsheetJama Connect ReviewJama Connect is being used to track product development from requirements collection through validation evidence presentation. We use it to provide our customers with information about what we are building, why and when it will be delivered. Jama Connect is used across our entire team, but not across my entire company.,Requirement traceability - Understanding what a requirement entails where it came from and whether it has been incorporated into the design. External collaboration - Jama Review Center has been a transformative tool for us to use to present status to external collaborators. External tool interface - Bi-directional communications with Jira has helped bridge the data gap between the Systems Engineering and the Software development teams.,Jama's hierarchy tree needs improvement, allowing mixed items types within a branch is a critical improvement we would like to see. Jama's native dashboard is weak...there is so much more that could be done here to improve the user experience.,8,Jama has been key to us bringing our external collaborators, vendors, and customers into a secure, and filtered version of our databases to ensure clear communications and to correct data errors.,We expected to use Jama to clearly communicate our product features and roadmaps internally and externally. We have successfully achieved this goal in both a traditional Systems Engineering "Vee" model and within an Agile framework.,Jama Connect's user experience beats out all competing technologies I have used. The review center part of the tool is a game-changer and really separated Jama Connect from their competitors. Additionally, the fact that Jama can be run in the cloud makes integration with dispersed teams very easy.,3SL Cradle and IBM Rational DOORS,JIRA Software, Slack, LucidchartMy review of Jama ConnectIt is used in our department to help organize client requirements for health and welfare.,Organization of requirements. The client review process for approval of requirements.,Hard to use grammar functions, spell check is off (some words will show as misspelled when they are not), and it is difficult to italicize/bold/underline. Jama is not friendly with all browsers. It is extremely slow with Internet Explorer. Jama will freeze very frequently and you have to wait for all of your words to type out. The search function does not work well, I can barely find anything after I put it in.,5,It has not had any impact on ROI yet.,We hope to reduce mistakes and risks with specific clients going forward by making sure their health and welfare requirements are correct, up to date, easy to find and easy to access. All requirements had to be reviewed internally when putting them into Jama, and then the client has to review the requirements in Jama for final approval. If there is a mistake in the future, we can reference Jama and the client sign off to see if the mistake was the client's fault or the internal team's fault.,Jama keeps requirements much more organized since we have had them in Word and Excel documents before. It is not customizable with the client review process and putting documents (that are already in Word) into Jama, and I have seen other requirement organization programs do a better job with that.,Veeva Vault,Microsoft Office 2016, Alteryx Analytics, Maestro, Webex MeetingsOnly requirement gathering should be done using Jama ConnectWe are using Jama Connect for collecting/gathering different types of requirements (i.e. business requirements, functional requirements, and non-functional requirements). We also used to get approval for those requirements to start working on it. Also, we use this as the golden source for all types of work to then track in Jira.,Jama provides flexibility to add customized types of items, e.g. functional requirements, components or projects. Jama is useful for adding any specific attribute in any type of item. Jama is useful to track approvals or get approvals for any specific requirement and proceed with it. Jama provides a complete history of activities related to any item.,Jama doesn't provide any functionality or features to add any item type that has user validation in place. i.e. we added Jama_Authors item type and then used the same to create an attribute for the story. That attribute can't have the user validation, or we can not add it in Jama. ALM protocol doesn't support URL type attributes in Jama 8. That must be fixed. Jama doesn't provide an audit history of administrators on the UI to track the administrative activities. Jama says 25,000 active items per project is good to get better performance, but it is less.,6,Jama is providing good requirement gathering management which starts our current agile process and helps it run smoothly to quickly deliver objectives in less time. Jama is only providing the approval mechanism for requirements, and that's the difference I see between Jama and Jira. Jira is a state management tool and it can be used to gather the requirements. Jama is our golden source of all the requirements. It helped to link the requirements in ALM or in Jira, which helps to resolve the redundant work as it is compatible to work with Tasktop.,We used Jama as requirement gathering purpose and we have achieved it very well. From the functionality perspective also from the automation perspective we achieved 60% from the Jama. Jama doesn't provide self onboarding if it uses the LDAP directory and that is creating extra work for L1/L2 team. so, automation forJama can not be possible to reduce the manual efforts. Also, Jama doesn't provide the proper audition history which also doesn't satisfy most of the needs.,Jama is well managed in the sense of traceability, reuse, export or importing batches etc. Reuse operation is very useful to avoid redundant work. Jama reviews are helpful in case someone needs to review the requirements before approving it. Then, we can add multiple reviewers. This functionality is good in all other tools. Upstreams functionality is useful when we have two or more epics or stories upstream.,Micro Focus ALM, JIRA Software and IBM Cloud PaaS (formerly IBM Bluemix - PaaS),JIRA Software, Atlassian Confluence, Nginx, TrueSight Server Automation (formerly BladeLogic Automation Suite), Nielsen Digital Ads Ratings, Bitbucket,15000,3,Requirement gathering including business, functional and non-functional requirements. Requirement gathering for development work and get the approvals for those requirements. Reporting of all the requirement statues for presentation. Integrating all these requirements with multiple applications like Jira and ALM to reduce the redundant work.,Creating new requirements types Creating new attributes in those requirement types Using reuse operations,Linking Jama to Octane for the requirements and so that those requirements will be connected to test cases, test plans, and test results. Creating new requirement item types and also new attributes to support the ongoing needs.,6,Not Sure,Price Product Features Product Usability Prior Experience with the Product Vendor Reputation Third-party Reviews,Personally, I don't recommend using Jama Connect if you are looking for a requirement gathering system only, if you already have tools like Jira or ALM. If there is Jira, then you can develop your own approval plugin and it can bring the same functionality as Jama in Jira. Most of the other features are available in Jira, so we can use Jira as development gathering tool. Jira has a wide range of plugins that improve its the functionalities. If there is no constraint on your budget, then I would recommend Jama for requirement gathering since we can keep requirements in separate tool and link those requirements to different tools. Even Tasktop-like tools consider Jama as the golden source of information.,Implemented in-house,No,Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled,Jama 2015.5 was really very smooth and there were no issues faced while implementing. With Jama 8, we have too many challenges due to multiple processes and interconnection of those processes. Jama 8 had many bugs, but fixing them was not a Jama priority. Jama 8 doesn't have good performance results which is the reason multiple teams don't want to upgrade the current environment 2015.5 version to Jama 8.,8,Self-taught,Internal training is sufficient to learn Jama.,7,There should be only one configuration file and startup file. Also for setting environment variables, there should be only one environment variable file before you start Jama. Where customers want to configure their project and with which database must be the choice of customers. Right now, Jama doesn't support Oracle.,We added customized item types and their attributes or report templates in Jama Connect.,6,Yes,Jama supported us on the weekend when they generally don't support on weekends or on their off hours. We were facing some issues with the application and we wanted to fix it on weekend, but we wanted help from vendor. They helped with prior notice of one week.,Creating item types and their attributes. In the case of Jama 2015.5, it is very smooth and very simple. But in Jama 8, they made it quite complex. Reusing existing items for a new set of requirements. Finding the activities of each item and history.,Adding users in Jama is a completely manual process and it is really very difficult to add in each group. User onboarding must be more simple. Jama's database schema is more difficult to understand. We can not read or write a query for any work using the current names of tables. Jama's database schema must be simpler. Doing automation with Jama REST or SOAP API is quite difficult.,6,6,8,9,Jira,File import/export API (e.g. SOAP or REST),9,If an item is integrated with any of the application, then Jama should not allow any conversion of that item otherwise the integration breaks. Also, REST API performance must be better because as soon as we increase the frequency of hits, Jama's performance gets degraded.,9,8,I never participated directly in negotiating but I was aware about the negotiation process with vendor. We generally keep in mind support, licensing cost and escalation process while negotiating, as well as defects resolution, audit perspective principles, and security vulnerabilities.,Ask for 24/7 support in case of production issues or outages if you are negotiating. Also, set the SLA time for the issue resolution. For premier support tickets, SLA must be there. Performance related issues must be resolved with patches and any defects that need immediate attention or require an immediate fix must be provided by the vendor in a set time frame. Right now, Jama doesn't prioritize the defects on customer impact, they prioritize on their own.,Yes,Some defects got fixed New performance related improvements New features New fields support,Jama should provide REST API for more actions. Jama should provide major features like support of plugins to customize the needs of the customer. Jama should fix current major defects which I have discussed earlier.,No,NoJama to the rescue! We use the tool to house all of our client requirements documentation.,The table of contents in the tool makes it very easy to navigate and find the information the user is looking for quickly. The traceability within the tool is top notch. Version control and change compare of the documentation is very easy to use.,We have to start a review for the client to see the content. I think this is cumbersome and that the client should be able to see approved content at anytime. Converting the content into Microsoft Word should be easier for the client to do. Currently, they are not able to do this.,10,The impact has been positive as it allows us to track our client requirements and manage approvals in one place. This will protect us from E&O in the future due to lack of documentation.,We expect to have a single location for requirements storage and the ability to effectively document and manage change to the information housed in this tool. The outcome was achieved.,Highly effective as it meets all of our expectations.A good way to maintain requirement: JamaCapgemini is a very large company with multiple clients and recommends solutions which best fit the need. We recommended Jama Connect to our client - The Judiciary, State of Hawaii as a one-stop hub requirement management solution for their needs. We recommended this because we realized that since the state is modernizing their IT software and infrastructure, it is prudent to have all the requirements, design and testing records in one place for future references. All we want to make sure we had traceability for all the requirements, design and testing artifacts. We found that Jama fulfills that need.,Requirement Traceability. Baselines and Versioning. User Profile and Access controls. Review Center is a very useful feature. Will suit all sizes of organizations to maintain and Manage their projects. The reporting feature is very useful.,The Text Editor is not convenient. Has a learning curve. Review Center still needs work as numbering for selected items in a review is still an issue. Once a review is published, the new item cannot be introduced into the review. Requires the review to be republished. JIRA connector is no longer inbuilt and requires expensive third-party tools from OPS HUB or Tasktop. Maybe cost prohibitive for Small and Medium Enterprises. Jama Cloud users cannot customize their own reports. Will need to reach out to Jama help with customization. The Search feature within Jama still needs work. Especially within a review. It is still unclear what will happen to all our data if we choose to end our contract with Jama. How can we read our data. It does not export well into Word documents as the formatting and alignments are always out of sync.,8,Ever since we have started using Jama, all our requirements are in one place. The version history helps us track every change in Jama which is very useful. We have not specifically calculated the ROI but earlier requirements were all over the place in multiple word documents which was a nightmare to look for. So the time saved in looking for those documents is actually time spent on other productive activities.,We have used Jama for maintaining the requirements for the Civil Case Management system which is a Major implementation for the Judiciary. The Requirements were successfully reviewed and signed off on the project. And is a major win for Capgemini and the Judiciary. We have used it on other major implementations at the client Judiciary and are satisfied with the product.,It is very useful as everything is in one place. The review center is a work in progress but still a very useful tool. The ability to compare before and after in a version has helped us avoid unnecessary scope creeps in the requirements. Traceability is one of the most useful features in Jama and very easy to maintain and run the traceability reports.,MS SharePoint and Atlassian Confluence,Atlassian Confluence, JIRA SoftwareJama will help with your client relationship! We use Jama on one of our client projects for requirements documentation and review, as well as, defect tracking and resolution. Through Jama, we have been able to fully document our functional and technical requirements for multiple products/projects. Jama allows us to go through change cycle reviews with our client to show them the changes we have made during a cycle for their approval or clarification. This gives us accountability and traceability that could not be achieved in other more manual requirement gathering methods.,Jama provides traceability, not only with defect logging, but also with changes made to the requirements (versioning). Ease of use/user friendly UI. Cloud version of Jama has proven to be very convenient.,The newer versions of Jama seemingly do not show reviews with just the sections that have been changed. This makes navigation difficult as you have to go through each section to see if there have been changes made. Jama connector used to come free for defect tracking (interfaced with JIRA), but now it does not so the process has become manual.,9,I don't have the numbers/cost per user license vs increased revenues but overall, the use of and recommendation to use Jama by our team has proven successful for us with our client projects. It has been used for every project ever since. It has created a work flow/process with our client and helped to standardize the SDLC.,In an environment where we do not practice Agile/Scrum methodology, the use of Jama has aided in the change cycle process with our client, to ensure accountability and accuracy of any requirements or changes to requirements. It has helped set a standardized process and allowed for a smoother transition from issue to change log to resolution.,Jama is the first requirements management tool I have ever used so in comparison to using MS word to draft requirements into a document, it is much more streamlined for collaboration among peers and client staff. It has also streamlined our reviews process and traceability of requirements and defects logging.,JIRA Software, Atlassian Confluence, TrelloJama works great!Jama is being used to capture product development for an internal projects/platform. Cantel IT as well as Cantel R&D are using Jama currently. It helps address the traceability aspect and simplicity of product development projects per our new internal design control process per ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820.,Allows for integration of existing documents to item types. Allows for capturing the review process of requirements and items. Overall traceability from start to finish on product development.,Risk Management function did not come standard so we didn't get to use it.,8,Not sure yet, still using it for our design and development efforts. I assume it will have a significant impact on 2.0 projects and products in the future.,Traceability, compliance in the product development process.,Aside from not being able to have item review linked to items directly, I have no real collaborations issues.Windows, Linux, Mac

Jama Connect Effectiveness

In our company, we manually make reports using MS Word and Excel, which takes lots of time and doesn't present clear data. Excel updates also use to make files messy which resulted in missing requirements. Jama has made life easier and very effective as data is much clearer and helpful for us to work with.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

Jama Connect is definitely a step up from the previous measures our organization had in place. The ease of which you can update, publish, and link information from one section of requirements to another is really nice.

Very helpful. We are now able to just go to one location and have all the projects organized which before would require many shared internal drives and folder structures as well as documents that could be updated by multiple people at the same time which caused version control problems.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

The internal model for Jama is sound, and traceability and suspect links are some of the best tools that we have. However, interoperability is not the best, and many times the requirements being provided by other parties needed a lot of massaging before being able to be imported in Jama.

Given our manual process, Jama Connect is a definite improvement. So, assuming the learning curve is not steep and Jama Connect is stable, then we should see immediate improvements from the get-go.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

I have not used other requirements management tools, but I have chatted with other engineers who have used other systems (MS Office, JIRA, Doors, DNG) and I am pretty happy with Jama. We don't use the collaboration features too extensively (except maybe review center) because we have other communications platforms, but I think if it was more easily integrated with JIRA that would change drastically.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

Jama is very effective at tracking changes. We previously used Excel to track our requirements and version control would get out of hand, or documents would get locked out. Jama is great for providing live updates and easy to reference versions of each change.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

We have used various tools in the past to help mitigate risk and much more, but I must say to date Jama is a lot more effective. I have found it very easy to identify changes and updates to requirements. The "activities" feature works very well to meet my needs.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

Jama has very good user authentication system, which was lagging behind in the previous application we were using and the speed of the application was very far behind when compared to Jama. It is very easy to scroll for the clients in the Jama Tool. Jama is user-friendly and it is very easy to change and update the password.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

1. First thing, it's online and easily reachable to everyone in the team who has access.
2. Second, we don't have to worry about storage running out.
3. Many people can access it at the same time. It reminds me of a functionality we were using earlier that stated that "This document is locked for editing" since one person has already opened that. It's not the case with Jama.

  • Streamlined process
  • Tracking history

Honestly, I really think it depends on your project whether using Jama is the right tool for you. There are a lot of options out there and I've used different tools in different environments. The collaboration function is good in Jama, but it's not enjoyable to use. The review functionality was crucial for this particular project we're on, and some of the leadership liked the traceability of requirements, even though it can get overwhelming when you're making a lot of changes!

Jama Connect's user experience beats out all competing technologies I have used. The review center part of the tool is a game-changer and really separated Jama Connect from their competitors. Additionally, the fact that Jama can be run in the cloud makes integration with dispersed teams very easy.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

Jama keeps requirements much more organized since we have had them in Word and Excel documents before. It is not customizable with the client review process and putting documents (that are already in Word) into Jama, and I have seen other requirement organization programs do a better job with that.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

Jama is well managed in the sense of traceability, reuse, export or importing batches etc. Reuse operation is very useful to avoid redundant work. Jama reviews are helpful in case someone needs to review the requirements before approving it. Then, we can add multiple reviewers. This functionality is good in all other tools. Upstreams functionality is useful when we have two or more epics or stories upstream.
